Hiekelien is a storyteller: fitting words into different shapes and sizes, creating her own little universes and exploring them as they come along.
Her writing started with lyrics on scraps of paper and short stories on an antique Mac. At the Utrecht School of Arts she did a BA at the School of Writing and discovered theatre and radio drama. For her internship she wrote a libretto and her graduation project was the theatre play/screenplay combo Grip/Eclips.
Since her graduation the theatre has been her main line of work, working with different theatre groups and makers. In 2007 she picked up the short story again. And the music was not neglected either.
In 2004 Hiekelien met with the [law-rah] collective and was invited to write the text and do the vocals for the 1953 project, which was released that same year on Spectre Records. This coop resulted in praising reviews and several performances in the Netherlands and Germany. In 2007 they once more joined forces to create .. as it is.. released by Spectre records. The english album was very well received and Hiekelien still joins [law-rah] on stage frequently.
On a non-professional but nevertheless ambitious level she writes lyrics and melodies for the metalband Ametheon she is singing in.
