About me: PALOMA is a bicoastal bellydancer who splits her time between New England and the San Francisco Bay area. With a penchant for the eerie, doleful, and the absurd, she executes her performances with the decadence of a bygone era and the astuteness of a post apocalyptic survivor. She firmly believes that life is a journey of learning and jumps on every opportunity to expand her knowledge of her craft.
She has studied the dance since 2003 and has studied under Laurel "Zephyra" Sill and briefly under Kathy Stahlman (of Tribal Moon). She is a former student of Ariellah of Oakland and Fat Chance Bellydance and currently studies with Tempest in Rhode Island. Initially drawn to to the folkloric routes of the dance she eventually found her niche by watching one of Tempest's performances in 2004 and has since started exploring the experimental and gothic sides of bellydance.
Paloma looks forward to performing in new venues and expanding her repertoire. She is the recipient of the 2008 NBDA People's Choice award in Best Drum Solo, Best Floorwork, Most Out of the Box and Best Choreography in the New Professional category.
Paloma loves to perform and create, telling stories that may otherwise go untold and bringing forward peculiar points that may go unsaid.
Who I'd like to meet: Other dancers, club people, darkly inclined folks, people not afraid to learn...
