Higher Ground is a Finnish gospel movement. The first HG-concert was held in 2006 at Helsinki Savoy-theater, featuring Higher Ground Mass Choir, Powerhouse Vocals and Band. Special guests were Max'C, Kenzie Salter, Axl Smith and Dancers. Second Higher Ground -concert was 2007 at Helsinki Culture House with Tony Momrelle (Incognito) and Kora Green (Al Green's daughter). Higher Ground concerts are about playing gospel music with flavors of funk, soul and r&b. More Higher Ground -concerts are coming up!

Higher Ground on vallankumouksellinen musiikillinen yhteisö, joka esiintyy 1-2 kertaa vuodessa. Suurimmillaan 140 laulajan, soittajan ja tanssijan esitys on täynnä räjähtävää gospelia, soulia, funkia ja r&b:tä. Higher Groundiin kuuluvat Hanna-Maria Heleniuksen johtama vakituisesti harjoitteleva 30 laulajan Higher Ground Vocals, harvoin kasattava HG Mass Choir ja parhaimmillaan 12 henkinen HG Band.
Higher Ground perustettiin keväällä 2006 Savoy-teatterin konserttia varten. Idea konserttiin lähti Higher Ground -nimisestä radio ohjelmasta jota HG:n isä Vellu Salminen pyöritti Groove FM:llä vuosina 2003-2007. Ensimmäisessä konsertissa vieraina olivat Kenzie Salter (USA) ja Max'C. Vuonna 2007 HG konsertoi vappuna senaatintorilla Axl Smithin kanssa. Saman vuoden lokakuussa oli Kulttuuritalolla 2 konserttia, joissa vieraina olivat Tony Momrelle (Incognito, UK), Kora Green (Al Greenin tytär, USA), Freddie Moffett (USA), Jippu ja Janna. Vuonna 2008 Higher Groundilla oli joulukonsertti yhdesssä Tony Momrellen kanssa.
Higher Groundin kuoro Higher Ground Vocals on esiintynyt myös Axl Smithin kanssa Huvila-teltassa ja Jipun kansssa Emma-gaalassa, sekä Ruisrockissa.

Originally clocking in at over 14 minutes, its been chopped virtually in half to add more punch and immediacy, whilst on the flip Guynamite and label boss Nik Weston add a more contemporary boogie house twist to the original, in doing so losing none of the vitality or the 'Fela' essence.
