Higher Ground is proud to be the 5 year perennial winner of the Seven Daysies 'Best Live Concert Venue'. The club has two different rooms, the larger Ballroom and the smaller Showcase Lounge. With the Ballroom and Showcase Lounge, Higher Ground is essentially two clubs in one.
Higher Ground recently reopened in So. Burlington, VT after being located in Winooski for six years. The venue is located at 1214 Williston Road in So. Burlington, VT just about 1 mile east of downtown Burlington.
The first show at the new Higher Ground took place on 12/2/2004 and was a sold-out performance from Hot Tuna. In Higher Ground's first year, over 100,000 people came through the doors to see such diverse acts as: The Black Crowes, Bright Eyes, Cake, My Morning Jacket, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Hawthorne Heights, Bowling for Soup, Rilo Kiley, Pat Green, Trey Anastasio, The Neville Brothers, Addison Groove Project, The Secret Machines, Antony and the Johnsons, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Burning Spear, Ray LaMontagne, Todd Barry, Pharcyde, Melissa Ferrick, Donavon Frankenreiter, Atmosphere, Steel Pulse, Sage Francis, Medeski Martin & Wood, Stephen Kellogg, Orchestra Baobab, Victor Wooten, OK GO, Hank III, Carbon Leaf, GZA, Aimee Mann, Ozomatli and too many more artists to name here.
