   About High Flow - www.high-flow.com

High Flow started out back in 1998 in a small town in Vermont, but before it was High Flow it was called Malo Rey. It started with Collin (Cessa X), Andrew (Syclone), and Jeff (DJ Fusion) making terrible beats, wack raps, and recording the worst shit you've ever heard a bunch of 13 year old teenage punks make. Eventually they convinced their buddies to join in and make music with them as to stay out of trouble (didn't really work). Original Malo Rey members included Cessa X, Syclone, Sykaphek, Scriptah, Sakred, and DJ Fusion at that point in time.

Through the first couple years, Malo Rey became High Flow, and went from a crew of 6, to 2, then to 3. DJ Fusion moved away towards the end of 1999 so High Flow was back to a crew of 2 (Cessa X and Syclone).

By 2000, High Flow began to gain a reputation at Woodstock High School amongst friends and family. This was largely due to High Flow organizing their first live show, Jam Session 2000. In doing so, they managed to raise over $900 for their class and had a blast doing it. This was a major turning point in High Flow history and it was only the beginning.

Over time, Cessa X started to master the beat making process thanks to the teachings of Erik Luna. Many High Flow songs were recorded with production from Lunatunes and Cessa X which in turn spawned the underground release of High Flow's first album: The Advent of Y2Kind in 2001. Although there were very few copies made, they were the stepping stone for High Flow to get their shit together and create a real album.

By 2001, High Flow was recording non-stop to practice their craft, and picked up Kirk (DJ Vinyl Fluid aka DJ Pujok) and then became a 4 man team by picking up Jah Slade who was singing for The Jay Spliff Band at the time. High Flow was finally solidified as a 4 man group and ready to record their first album to take things to the next step.

In 2002, High Flow released their debut album "Music for the Mind". Upon finishing recording the album, High Flow was introduced through a friend of a friend who went to school in our sister state: New Hampshire. His name was DJ B-Roc - a 16 year old DMC Finalist and scratch master. You can hear some of B-Roc's first cuts with High Flow on their "Music For The Mind" album as High Flow was eager to get his sound on the album before releasing it.

(You can learn more about DJ B-Roc's history at http://www.djbroc.com)

With DJ B-Roc on board, High Flow began doing more shows in the area and making more songs. They started to appear on 99 ROCK thanks to DJ Pretty Boy Floyd (DJ at the time) and were the first Hiphop group in the Upper Valley to get on the air and be heard. They successfully put on 4 more Jam Sessions from 2001 to 2003 as well. High Flow's sophmore album "Paint Your Brain" was released with a full-house release party at the local "Little Theatre" in their hometown of Woodstock, VT in late 2002. For anyone that was there, it's been one of the most memorable times in High Flows live performance history. Ask anyone who was there and you will learn why. That isn't to say there were more shows because there were!

After High Flow graduated high school, we all went our separate ways off to college but still kept in touch regularly. During summer break of 2003, High Flow and John Hummel (long-time fan) teamed up to put on yet another Jam Session show at a private location in Stockbridge, VT. The turnout was massive and very successful. It was such a big hit that they did it again the following year, just in time for the release of High Flow's new album "Keep It Lanigiro" in 2004.

Backed by new production from King Tut aka Sykaphek, Cessa X and DJ B-Roc, and featuring the new sound of Shane aka Molokai, "Keep It Lanigiro" was a true original High Flow masterpiece which voiced the past, present, and future of High Flow's personal growth. It didn't take long to realize that this was a classic album and yet another mark in High Flow's musical history.

The word Lanigiro became a trademark slogan for High Flow and soon coined the name of High Flow's Independent Record label, Lanigiro Records. Although Lanigiro Records didn't actually "sign" artists, it allowed High Flow to fuse affiliations with friends and other artists under one roof and one name. King Tut aka Sykaphek is responsible for the Lanigiro name so he shall not go uncredited.

What is Lanigiro you may ask? What does it mean? Simple. It's original spelled backwards. There is nothing complicated about it but yet it describes what High Flow music is all about: being original. A simple play on words creates an entire ideal around what High Flow music is about.

At the end of 2004, High Flow reunited after a year of college and performed on New Years Eve in Burlington, VT. Although the show wasn't a big turnout, it was personally refreshing as we were back on stage doing what we loved to do a year or two before that. This was the last High Flow show with all the original members on stage performing but it was worth worth the time playing music with everyone again.

The last creative effort of High Flow's original members was the release of their original short film "Killington" in 2005. The movie is based off of the true events of Cessa X, Rob, and DJ Fusion getting lost on the backside of Killington mountain back in 2001. Syclone took the story to the next level by acting, writing, and directing it. Cessa X showcased his shooting and editing skills, and had a cameo. Sykaphek and DJ Vinyl Fluid proved themselves as actors, and our friends Rick Davis and Marne Ackermann debuted their acting to complete the entire cast. After 2 weeks of filming and 5 months of editing, the project was finished. You can watch it here:
http://www.high-flow.com/killington

Fast forward from 2004 to 2007 and High Flow is still very active musically but things have changed since the "Keep It Lanigiro" album was released; new songs, new albums, new shows, and new members.

"The Lanigiro Showcase" was released in late 2006 and is a compilation of all Lanigiro Records affiliates. It includes songs from original High Flow members Cessa X and Jah Slade, Molokai, a couple songs from the "Keep It Lanigiro" album, new songs from new High Flow members B. Frates and Casey, and a couple songs from Javaid.

Jump ahead to 2007 (present day):

High Flow still remains and continues to make new music. Thanks to the power of the internet, High Flow has been able to make new songs remotely from different parts of the country. This has been the lifeline in keeping High Flow music going. The core remaining members include Cessa X (rhymes and production), Jah Slade (rhymes), King Tut (production), B. Frates (vocals), and Casey (vocals). High Flow has performed three shows at Bates College in Lewiston, ME over the last 2 years and the turn outs have been very successful! Look out for High Flows 10 year anniversary of making music in 2008 - we're bound to setup a very big show to celebrate!

What's up with High Flow members:

Cessa X continues to carry High Flow by making new music and performing at shows with Jah Slade, B. Frates, Casey, and DJ B-Roc. Throughout his college career he was in a Hiphop/Rock band called Sister Domatilla which performed all over Boston at major venues and even made it to the final round of the Emergenza Music Festival. The was the last Sister Domatilla show before the band broke up. After finishing college in early 2006, his normal life now includes freelancing as a web designer and video editor, living in the Boston area, and working outside the city for a automotive media company.

Syclone moved out to LA in 2004 and is still there to this day studying film. He has not made music with High Flow since 2004 but we haven't given up on him yet. We wish him the best of luck in the film industry and can't wait until he gets on a new High Flow track or performs with us again.

DJ Fusion left Vermont and moved from state to state for awhile. Syclone managed to stay in touch with him throughout the years, and last we heard, he lives somewhere in California with his girlfriend.

Sykaphek aka King Tut has been living in NYC since 2004, and finished college in 2006. He now lives in Brooklyn doing A&R for HeavyRoc Music (DJ B-Roc's label), and interns at Koch records. He continues to make beats with High Flow and HeavyRoc Music as well.

Jah Slade lives in Vermont where he works a day job and continues to write amazing lyrics. Although not able to making music over the internet as regularly, he still continues to bang out lots of new songs every year.

DJ Vinyl Fluid aka DJ Pujok moved to Florida in 2003 and has since graduated college. He lives outside of Orlando and was recently married to his wife Stephaniein Cocoa Beach. He continues to make beats from home and collaborate with High Flow when he's not working his full-time job. The latest word is that he's moving to California in 2008 to start his own music label and continue to follow his passion for underground hiphop music.

Molokai aka Vast Verbal graduated High School in 2003 and moved to New Mexico for awhile. Although impossible to get ahold of and very nomadic, he did a show with High Flow in Maine last year which was a great turnout and great surprise. He continues to write and rhyme in his spare time and works a day job (I think). As of right now, we're not certain where he's chilling but he's involved with making music.

B. Frates joined the High flow family around early 2006. He and Cessa X teamed up to create their first song "Friendship to Love" and have since created lots of new songs by meshing Cessa X's beats and rhymes with B. Frates's warm vocals. He has also played a vital role in keeping the High Flow music going by organizing shows at Bates College which continues to build the High Flow fan base. He still goes to school at Bates College.

Casey Ramey teamed up with High Flow via B. Frates after collaborating on a number of songs with him and Cessa X. Casey has since released numerous solo songs and collaborations with Cessa X and B. Frates, backed by the production of Cessa X. Casey continues to go to school at UNH.
