High-paer-bowl-ee (or HPB) was started in 2003 with Ben Newsum (aka BF Nuisence) and Eric Granger (aka DJ Das) joining forces to assault the greater good. Their freshman album, Final Exam, proved to be a successful venture in artistic collaboration. Tracks like Jesus Loves the Skinny Puppies cemented the vector HPB was looking for; no holds barred experimentation in creating soundscapes not all fit for public consumption. ..This general philosophy carried over to the next album, Geopolitik, although with more politically aware tone. As work was being completed on Geopolitik, new techniques were studied by Ben and Eric for engaging the coming projects and collaborations on the horizon. After a little hiatus to work on solo projects, HPB went forward with this new knowledge in hand... ..In the spring of 2007, a new member was added to complete the sound HPB was seeking. Levi Witt (aka DJMC Levi) was made lead vocalist for the group and brought his unique style and techniques into the fold. The result was a resounding success. .. ..Heliothesis, the group's third album, incorporated all elements of the group's collective musical knowledge and turned standard issue sound design on it's head. Nothing was off limits for this project; there were hip-hop tracks, there were pure dance electronica tracks, even a few abstract songs that harkened back to the old school HPB days. With everything seemingly in place, HPB will carry on like long division... ..Their next concept is called The Oil Crash and will be a three disc multimedia project that will involve working with all the other artists on the Cursed Earth Enterprises label. -
