  • Bio

The High School Sweethearts got started in '97 with our rock n roll/power pop-garage single "Find A Way b/w Single White Female' (Get Hip Records) and have made it our mission to have a down and dirty good rock ‘n roll time ever since. We pack our raucous guitar fueled rock ‘n roll with hooks and riffs, sweeten it with catchy 'Brill Building' melodies and refuse to sacrifice either. Most of all we respect the importance of a good song, without ever taking ourselves too seriously to have a good time. Our 50's pop, 60's garage and 70's punk influences converged on our our well received debut full length "Passing Notes" (Get Hip Records) , and we can also be heard on several compilation offerings including the 'A Fistful of Rock n Roll 4' series (TeePee Records), the 'Rock n Roll Au-Go-Go' series (Devil Doll Records), ‘How Many Bands Does It Take To Screw Up a Blondie Tribute?’ (Sympathy for the Record Industry), ‘Garage Justice Volume 1’ (Deep Eddy Records) and the Brutarian Magazine comp, " It Came From Beyond". Our latest album 'HEELS 'n' WHEELS' ( Get Hip Records) was a Little Steven's Underground Garage favorite and is available through the label (www.gethip.com) and through various distributors such as Bomp!, amazon.com etc, or lo and behold you can even just ask for it if you shop for music the old fashioned way- in a record store!

"Farfisa-fueled garage pop that takes Spectorian girl-group anthems and swathes them in armor instead of basting them with a thin candy shell. John Steele (Electric Frankenstein) writes hook-filled punk pop gems ala Sex Pistols and Ramones that are the perfect vehicle for co-writer/vocalist Cynthia Santiglia's Blondie-tough persona..."----- Bill Holmes (Bucketful of Brains, 2000)
