Burlesque performer, vaudvillian darling, tortured artist, avant garde hussy and serial killer extraordinaire.
A rising super-nova of burlesque, Cherry Loco could be the proverbial love-child of Ava Gardner & John Waters in a campy, but very glamorous, Bizarre-O World. A true darling of the stage. Specialising in Liberace-grand, androgynous acts – from the magic to the macabre -- he, not only mesmerises audiences with flawless choreography & polished delivery, but pushes boundaries with a skilled, vaudevillian poise. A newcomer with Tex Avery edge, he is a living satire of opulent American shakers; mixing pin-up looks with an unhinged tongue-in-cheek wit and a wide range of skills, from his acclaimed fan-dancing technique to a vast knowledge of theatrical artforms throughout history. Cherry is also a talented compere with buckets of Ted Bundy charm, a resident performer of Cheesecake and can be booked to provide ambience work or for modelling (retro / avante garde / fetish / horror). Has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in UK & International burlesque including Kitten on the Keys, Vicky Butterfly, Des O'Connor, Dolores Delight, Gypsy Charms, Viva Misadventure and Frayed Knot Circus. Was out at the westend festival very briefly but had to leave to go and see Camille O'Sullivan. She was awesome! Think you'd really like her. She does lots of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bowie covers. She's also insane! She's performing throughout the Fringe if you fancy going through an seeing her at some point?
Anyways, I'll catch up with you properly on Thurs!
Tequila and I are not on speaking terms after the last couple of adventures, if it apologises profusely I may consider befriending it again. A few of them will do my confidence wonders. I may just show up then - it gives me an excuse to buy some new clothes; not that I need an excuse, but it's good to pretend you're buying something for a purpose. Do I need to buy tickets in advance? If so, I'll need to get on that; time is flying these days.
Went to the Pere Lachaise cemetary, saw the graves of Jim Morrison, Marcel Proust and a few others as well - it's a beautiful Cemetary. You going down to Brompton cemetary to visit Casati's grave? I hear it's a hard one to find.
Well I might attend High Tease, if I can find someone to drag along. I'm out of touch with all thats going on in Glasgow at the moment for various reasons - need to get in the loop.
What was the name of that artist you said I should check out if I liked Sylvia Ji? I can't remember naturally. I hope you are sufficiently recovered from being gin soaked.
Also, jealous you get to visit Iona when you are in London. I miss her. :( x | | v
