Le Higurashi nascono nel novembre del 2007 per iniziativa di due ragazze autodidatte entrambe accomunate dall’amore per la musica: Sonia Zuppardo (al basso,in precendenza chitarrista) e Lorena De Francisci (alla batteria) , conosciutesi tra i banchi di scuola tempo addietro.L’obiettivo era quello di far risaltare nel mondo musicale la figura della donna.Inizia quindi la ricerca delle altre componenti… per la scelta della cantante le due non ebbero nessun tipo di esitazione, il posto spettava senza dubbio a Loriana Cirino (già amica della bassista e anche lei autodidatta) che attraverso la sua voce e una chitarra si era già distinta in svariate occasioni. Contemporaneamente entra a far parte del gruppo Katia Torrisi (vecchia amica della tre ragazze),prima al sax per provare un genere sperimentale ska e in un secondo tempo alla chitarra ritmica. Così il sogno ebbe inizio.Il gruppo, pieno di passione e voglia di fare bene, ha proseguito nel suo intento trovando complicità e migliorando il proprio sound in un garage adibito a sala prove, e sacrifici per conciliare lavoro e studio a questa passione.Le Higurashi propongono una miscela di indie rock esplosivo. Il nome,proposto dalla percussionista,simboleggia un po’ il motto dell’intero gruppo,poiché il suo significato è”vivere alla giornata”,un carpe diem giapponese tutto al femminile.Dopo diverse serate live e collaborazioni con gruppi emergenti locali, il gruppo torna nuovamente ad essere formato da tre componenti,successivamente alla decisione presa da Katia di abbandonare il progetto.Nel luglio 2008 entra a far parte della formazione definitiva Serena Castrogiovanni,già chitarrista delle Toxic Candies,una marcia in più per far ripartire la band in carreggiata.Il nostro simbolo è diventato la stella:suonare è sempre stato un nostro desiderio,qualcosa che gradualmente è andato concretizzandosi..e inoltre poiché le stelle nell’antichità servivano soprattutto come punti d’orientamento notturni e noi,prima di essere musiciste,siamo soprattutto amiche:ognuna è un riferimento per l’altra e lo sarà sempre indipendentemente dalle sorti dell gruppo.Confucio diceva che “le stelle sono buchi nel cielo da cui passa la luce dell'infinito”.
Higurashi were born in November 2007 thanks to two girls, both autodidacts, get on by the music passion: Sonia Zuppardo at the guitar bass (before guitarist)and Lorena De Francisci at the drum, met between the school’s desks some years before. The objective was to stand out, in the musical world, the woman’s figure. So started the search of the others components. The choice of the singer was unanimous , they didn’t hesitate too much: the role was up to Loriana Cirino (autodidact too),whom with her guitar and her voice she distinguished herself in different occasions. At the same time Katia Torrisi (a three girls’ old friend) took part in the band as guitarist, before at the sax,to try an experimental ska-genre. Consequently the dream started: the Band, full of passion and with the desire to do its better, carried on finding a special feeling and getting better the own sound in a garage changed in a rehearsals room. Higurashi propose a indie rock explosive mixture. The name, proposed by the drummer, symbolized the motto of the whole band, ‘cause its meaning is “live hand-to-mouth” ,a sort of female Japanese “carpe diem”. After different lives and collaborations with others emergent local bands, the band came back to be composed by only three members, following Katia’s decision to abandon the project. In July 2008 Serena enters into our definitive formation, already a guitarist in Toxic Candies’ band. She is a cut above to set our band right.Our symbol is the star: to play was always our desire ,something that gradually was going to be real. Moreover because the stars for the ancients were especially night- time points of reference and above all we are, before being musician, friends: everyone is a point of reference for the other one, and she’ll be forever independently from the band’s fate. Confucio said : The stars are holes in the sky from which passes the infinite’s light.
