Hilary - Hope all is well. Approaching the 4th I’ve decided to release a new single of an old song. Patriotism – it is what we make of it. National pride, taken to the extreme, has historically led only to more war and strife and people turning against one another. Still, whatever brings us together can also, if in the spirit of unity, make us (or anybody else) great.
Though I'm more likely to write and play protest songs, I was invited to sing the "National Anthem" for my son’s little league. I found the original poem, written by Francis Scott Key. Some of the non-Anthem verses are, in their own ways, pretty “heavy.”
So, the next time I was in the studio, I recorded some of the “lost verses”

My Bass Player (Kevin) and I are hosting an Open-Mike Night on Wednesdays at The Venice Bistro in Venice. Right on the Boardwalk, prime location for all the foot traffic to hear you. I'd like to invite you and anyone you know down to play originals or covers. 2-3 songs each musician and we will have a PA, mikes, acoustic guitar, electric piano, and acoustic bass. Should be a lot of fun and a great forum to sell/give away your cd and to network with other local musicians.
