Silas House is the author of the novels Clay's Quilt (2001), A Parchment of Leaves (2003), and The Coal Tattoo (2004) and the play The Hurting Part (2005). In 2009 he will release a new nonfiction book, Something's Rising (March), a new play, Long Time Travelling (April), and a new novel, Eli the Good (October). House is also a well-known music writer who has done features or press kits on such artists as Kris Kristofferson, LeAnn Womack, Lucinda Williams, Nickel Creek, Kelly Willis, Buddy Miller, Darrell Scott, Delbert McClinton, Tim O'Brien, Scott Miller, and many more. He is writer-in-residence at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, and lives in Eastern Kentucky, where he was born and raised.
