INFORMATION FOR MUSICIANS
* We are interested in booking Roots/Americana artists. That's pretty vague, huh? We love Folk, Blues, Soul, Bluegrass - preferably some concoction of all the above. Singer Songwriters with something to say - artists of conscience - get us everytime.
* We host about once a month, skipping December, and cannot book too far into the future because of possible conflicts with my day job which can entail some nights and weekends. We are a fairly new series and we're still building our audience base so we appreciate when our artists can help fill the house with their local contacts. I guess we are at the awkward teenage stage where we want and need to book great artists so our folks will keep coming back and our audience will build, but we can't always provide a full house for our artists yet. 45 to 50 is our capacity.
* We have a professional soundman, Ramcey Rodriguez, and excellent sound equipment. We pride ourselves in supplying whatever the artist needs to sound their best. Ramcey has worked with artists such as Tom Russell, Fred Eaglesmith, Mary Gauthier, Nanci Griffith and many others. He will put his all into providing superior sound, and gratefully accepts CDs in way of thanks. *IF* the artist agrees, we record our shows from the sound board. The resulting recording is for our memories only, not to be distributed. The artist will have free use of the show recording.
* Because we are new, we still have a long wishlist of favorite artists we hope to book. But we love to discover new artists that blow us away. I will review your EPK and website, but I also admit that receiving a CD or Press Kit will tend to move you up our list of potential artists if we like your music. If you are playing in the Nashville area, by all means let us know. A live listen can be a deal maker in a hurry. With these facts in mind, we are always open to hearing from musicians. If we are booked up or I don't think your music is a good fit for Hillbilly Haiku, I'll be up front and wish you all the best. If we enjoy your music, and you are willing to be patient and flexible, chances are we will see you in our living room at some point.
* We strongly encourage merch sales for our artists, providing attractive displays and personal testimony to your music. Please bring your CDs and be willing to sign them for our guests.
* We only host on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. Our day jobs do not allow for weekday bookings.
* We have a guestroom and bath for the use of our artists if they wish to stay overnight. You must be cat and dog tolerant because we share our home with three furkids. We are happy to accommodate food and beverage requests/restrictions so your visit to Hillbilly Haiku is as enjoyable as possible. We find it highly rewarding to give back to the artists whose music so enriches our lives.
* Unfortunately, we are not in the position to be able to offer guarantees. What we do guarantee is our best effort to fill the house, and an evening of great hospitality from music lovers who LISTEN and revere what you do.
* We don't sign contracts. We are not a business. While we understand the need for contracts when working with performance venues, we respectfully submit that we are not those. We do this strictly for the love of good music, and if my word by email is not sufficient, chances are Hillbilly Haiku is not a good fit for you. We welcome you to refer to our past performer list and elicit a personal reference from any of them.

This is the way we want to hear the music we love. This is how we want to give back to the artists who give us so much joy with their music. This is how we want to spend an evening with friends and fellow music lovers at least once a month.
Hillbilly Haiku is our own personal statement to music 'for the sake of the song' and not as background noise for socializing. Listening is our weapon of choice and you are all invited to join the revolution!
HILLBILLY HAIKU HOUSE RULZ:
1. Reservations required. Just shoot us an email at hillbillyhaiku@gmail.com Once your reservation is accepted, we need you to show up. No-shows without giving notice will quickly get you taken off our invite list. The artist's livelihood is the matter at hand here, and we take that seriously.
2. If yer talkin' (during the performance) yer walkin' (out the door). Don't even try me. We reserve the right to toss you if you are disruptive.
3. Smoking of any ilk beyond guitar strings is outdoors only.
4. Don't drink and drive. It ain't cool and we need you fit and free to return next month. The nearby highway is a favorite spot for DWI checkpoints, you have been warned.
5. Talking to the musicians is not only allowed, its encouraged. However, don't feed the dog. :-)
6. Dress casual. We share our home with 2 cats and a dog who in turn share freely of their beautiful coats.
7. Those with pet allergies, see 6, act accordingly.
Please note: "Hillbilly Haiku House Concerts" is simply the name we choose to describe our private parties, in our private home. These parties are NOT a business nor are they a business related activity. They are strictly a hobby for us, and are simply gatherings of our friends and guests to enjoy live acoustic music, fellowship, food (a potluck dessert buffet) and fun. Our concert parties are officially free (or else it might be considered a business), although voluntary contributions are accepted at the party on behalf of the artists. 100% of all contributions go directly to the performers. By invitation only.

Hello Rick and Denise: I'd like to wish you both a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year and also to all the Great Singer/Songwriters that have appeared at your beautiful venue Hillbilly Haiku, and last but not least the Children that you and Rick are loving and raising (woof woof, bow wow, and purr . STAY IN TUNE R.C. Sherry and P.J.
Hey Denise, Just coming by here to say hello. Hope you guy's have a good turn out for Keith Sykes on saturday, he has a fan in Michigan that really wishes he could be there. We are seeing Greg Brown on saturday, and for once, Jennifer is looking forward to it as much as I am. Have a great weekend, Noah.
The Tom Russell show was amazing, He and Thad Beckman went through the entire new record with the exception of Crosses of San Carlos. I have come to really appreciate how he handles an audience, just brilliant. They also performed California Snow, The Pugilist at 59 and a really cool medley of Van Ronk and Crucifix in a Death Hand with a lot of added story about shitty wine they use to drink at Dave Van Ronk's apartment. The only downer for me was Jennifer was supposed to go but she was in the hospital with a stomach problem, so even though I enjoyed the show, I was a little distracted from the moment, one lucky fella got in for 15 dollars even. It was great meeting him as well, I even helped a few folks who were new to his work with there CD purchases. Seeing Guy Clark and Verlon Thompson with Terry Hendrix and Lloyd Maines in about a week and a half. This is so long it should have been a message, oh well, too lazy to change it now, nothing but love and music coming your way, Noah.
Those comments below were meant to be replies to your picture comments, this thing is weird. Anyway, it was great meeting you and Rick the other night, hope you guy's are taking in some of the music still going on around there, til next time, Noah.

Keith Sykes, that is going to be a great night. There would be a chance of us making it down there too but just got tickets for Greg Brown and the show is that very same day ( Sat Nov 7th) at The Ark up here, dang it, I seen that and could only think just my luck, that would have been enough reason to get down there before the Eric Taylor date, soon but not soon enough, Noah.
Hey Denise, Cannot put in words how much I appreciate you. Thank you for the package that is on the way and thank you for the cds you have recommended since we've connected ( bought a copy of The Law and The Lonesome which led me to a copy of The Waitress, ordering more Jonathan Byrd cds next week, Finally bought a copy of the new Diana Jones as well, again and again Thank You ). Eric Taylor March 20th, right around my B-day, money should be better by then, if I don't make it down before then I WILL BE THERE even if I have to walk. Hope you have a great weekend, until our paths cross, Noah.
