Drenched in atmosphere and melodies, London's Hills Are Mountains specialise in lush, delicate and spine-tingling compositions utilising accordion, zither, found-sound samples...well, anything really. The moody, melodica-led 'Sky Formations' tantilises with clusters of rich and tender melodies, zither tricklings and scatterings of percussion. Sparse guitar and effective restraint create an intimate lull on the subdued moodiness of 'M P.T' while, '...And The Birds Sang With Us' gushes with languid and unbroken squeezebox murmurations, haunting voices and otherworldy lyricism. They're a rather delicious, doomful and foreboding lot with an undoubted cinematic feel that's equally stark as it is radiant. One band worth dusting off the old 'hey, you gotta pretty nice soundscape' line for.
