hip-O is a five piece band bringing a unique flavor of Jazz and Funk influenced Rock to the universe. Because of their individual variety of musical influences, this upcoming group offers a great deal to people who crave a wide array of musical diversity. From a first time listeners standpoint, they may be surprised by hip-O’s sound, noticing the bands atypical tendency to shift and/or combine genres with almost every tune. The same listener, however, as they absorb more and more, will begin too see the distinct imprint hip-O puts on every tune, making each show an impressionable and unforgettable experience. Fans tend to come to the conclusion that hip-O is its own genre; is it bluesy, yes, is it funky, yes; does it contain elements of fusion as well as elements of hard rock, yes; but could it be labeled as anything but hip-O, I think not.
hip-O recently released the debut CD, “Dripping Faucet” in June of 2008. The album features twelve songs best capturing the qualities of tight cohesive song writing, with the energy and excitement of improvisation throughout, defining the distinct sound of hip-O.
