This Myspace account is intended to serve as a hub for prospective students to ask questions in a more relaxed atmosphere. Current students and Alums are free to add us as a friend, but just understand that all bulletins and blogs are aimed at the high school audience.
Some unique things:
Hiram College has a unique semester system called the... wait for it... Hiram Plan. At your typical college you would take 4 classes for 15 weeks, blow through finals, go home for the holidays, and slump back to campus in January. At Hiram you only take 3 classes for 12 weeks. This gives you time to be active in extracurricular activities and sports. We want you to be well rounded. At the end of the 12 weeks you take your finals, have a long weekend, and then take 1 class for 3 weeks. The idea behind this is that if there is something you struggle with, you can get extra help. If you enjoy something, you can do it all day. It also allows professors to take you on field trips or you can study overseas.
Hiram College gives students a tuition guarantee. In your four years at Hiram your tuition will not go up at all. This means that you can plan ahead and are not at the mercy of exceptionally high tuition jumps. There is more to it so I recommend you chat with your admission counselor.
