"Hired Geeks have put on a great show for us for the last five years. They're an excellent band to work with." - Zach Erickson, Skappleton coordinator
"These guys hail from Kenosha with an original and upbeat ska sound. Every song on their disc has that catchy backbeat that ska is so famous for. But for once there is something different coming out of Kenosha. Charity has a creepy ska sound to it that caught me off guard. Spank brings an in your face ska-rock sound to the table. Check these guys out, they rock."
- Lucas J. Keller, columnist, www.milwaukeerocks.com, Milwaukee's Rock 102.1
"Fun quirky ska from the U-S-of-A. ...The music jumps around a fair bit rhythmically, there's lots of brass and slapping going on... 'Song Factory' starts off with a nice 'n' subtle "Awooooogah" which never fails to disappoint. Nice little 4 track EP. Reminds me of Blue Meanies, various other genre-flexiable ska bands and a Ska-injected-yet-goofy incarnation of early Incubus." - Last.fm
For the last 8 years, Hired Geeks have been a staple in the midwest ska and experimental rock scenes, intriguing audiences with their offbeat rhythms, key changes, and unorthodox yet catchy songwriting. They have toured extensively throughout the midwest and into the east coast, repeatedly sharing the stage with artists such as Tub Ring and Dog Fashion Disco; as well as ska legends The Toasters, Mustard Plug, and The Skatalites. Hired Geeks played in the first and second "Ska Is Dead" tours (with Catch 22, Mustard Plug, Big D & the Kids Table, The Planet Smashers, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Streetlight Manifesto, and MU330), and performed at the renowned annual ska fest "Skappleton" for the last 6 years. The Geeks teamed up with former Toasters and Pilfers front man Coolie Ranx for a soon to be released single entitled "Schwipe." Rob Kleiner of Tub Ring has produced the Geeks upcoming single, "Here We Are", for their music video shoot due out in 2008.
Hired Geeks formed in the fall of 2000, with many of the members working together as early as 1995. They have perfected an intense original sound and a kaleidoscopic live act showcasing the mastery of their irregular instruments: 6-string slap and tap bass, the Superbone (valve/slide combo trombone), and the clock and trigger guitar. The Geeks intricately blend touches of jazz, metal, progressive, funk, new wave and reggae; and apply classical-modern musical ideas such as polytonalism and polyrhythmics to rock and ska. This combination of unconventional musical elements characterizes the raw, innovative sound of the Hired Geeks and has allowed them to break into multiple genres.
