Art (fine, low-brow, outsider and folk),
the out-of-doors (mountains, valleys, forests, rivers and streams),
old houses and antiques,
gardening,
vintage finds,
edgy or ecclectic fashion,
painting ANYTHING,
making ANYTHING.
Music
Quite a variety, a bit of this and that:
60's psychedelic album rock,
70's AM radio,
80's New Wave,
"Progressive",
Alternative,
and Heavy Metal,
Old-school Punk,
90's Grunge... Jazz,
Classical,
International,
Folk,
Instrumental... Funk, Soul and a little 'twang.
About the only kind I don't care for is most of what gets played today on the local rock station. Yawn...
(My tolerance grows with age, but still no bottle blondes in school girl outfits.)
Movies
Janghwa Hongryeon is a steady 2am thing.
Weird, odd, brain-twisting films that leave your head cocked sideways, questioning your own intelligence. I tend to watch those twice just to make sure I'm truly stupid.
The occasional Art flick.
INDIE.
Old Horror movies. Even the REALLY BAD ones, which I consider comedy for the insomniac.
Dark French films.
Old black n' white talkies/not, Pompous Period Pieces
and English corn-cob dramas;
those which my husband refuses to sit through.
He and I instead share the camp (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill).
Most notable 'horror' films watched as a tot that still stick in my head:
Rod Serling's Night Gallery; 'The Cemetary' with Roddy McDowell and the elusive 70's 'Dont Be Afraid Of The Dark' (Kim Darby).
FAVORITE mainstream ACTORS (in brief):
Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Gary Oldman, Johnny Depp, J. Malko...and Cate Blanchett.
Foreign film: Tadanobu Asano, Vanessa Paradis.
I'll get back to this.
Television
Law and Order. Addict. No denying it.
I also quite like Paul James, aka: The Gardener Guy.
Books
Dante's Divine Comedy. (I actually read that when I was 12? Weird kid.)
Historical accounts,
biographies,
some fiction...
Heroes
Frank Zappa.
John Malkovich.
My daughter.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The Trust for Public Land.
Anyone who, like me, has *never* watched a single episode of SURVIVOR or American Idol. And never will.
