HITCHCOCK Biog:
Hitchcock are set to explode onto the scene with an uproarious mix of bombastic, eccentric, theatrical electronics and histrionics. Like their namesake, they are truly masters of their art, dark, twisted yet utterly addictive. Although this is the band’s first single they have already performed at sell-out gigs across the UK including a slot on the headliners stage at Gatecrasher’s Summer Sound System in 2008.
Their debut single Smack Boom is a sexy fuck-yeah anthemic electro-clash of twisted synth-pop, a schizophrenic fusion of sounds mixing the the dark side of Depeche Mode with the uplifting pop sensibilities of Duran Duran, full on dance energy of the Prodigy and technical genius of Kraftwerk and Massive Attack.
As their name suggests Hitchcock take a cinematic look at the world being inspired musically by composers like Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Goldsmith. Their songmanship is a psychological analysis of the darker side of humanity. Smack Boom is a snarling sonic commentary of celebrity excess and modern hedonism. A thought provoking and infectious observation about society’s need for adoration and excess.
The two creative intellects behind the project are Andy Huckvale and Matt Droog, both of whom have substantial experience programming and producing music.
Front man Matt has been producing bands for many years. Recently he’s worked with The Enemy, Boy Kill Boy and Beat Union. Matt is responsible for the producing The Enemy’s comeback single ‘No Time For Tears’ which has received industry plaudits for its huge sonics and has been hailed by Radio 1s Zane Lowe as the ‘Best track in the World Right Now’
Andy has toured America with his former band, Apartment 26, and is an extremely talented musician and programmer who has worked alongside producers including Charlie Clouser (Nine Inch Nails) and Tchad Blake (Peter Gabriel). He has also created music for television including pieces for Microsoft and Nike TV commercials.
Maintaining the strong cinematic vision, Hitchcock’s live shows can be likened to a David Lynch movie. Surreal nightmarish and dreamlike images collide with the band’s meticulously crafted sound. Lead singer Matt Droog’s Clockwork Orange persona and in yer face Sex - Pistols-esque contortions are matched by Andy’s unique technical ability, making gigs a thrilling spectacle of epic proportions. The bands flamboyant style is a seductive twist on reality, making the provocative playful and the forbidden electrifying.
Despite the band being relatively unknown their gigs have been roadblocked in cities throughout the UK including Leeds, Manchester, London and Birmingham. Hitchcock also played on the headliner stage at Gatecrasher’s Summer Sound System in 2008. The band’s fusion of live music and DJ based dance music is totally unique and their parties have become a place where the weird and the wonderful congregate for a night of unadulterated hedonism where fashion and music collide.
Smack Boom is the first single from the album ‘Running From The Sane’, an album overflowing with extreme passions and severe epic moments. The songs are a collection of stories, real people, real happenings, an in-your-face social commentary that everyone can relate to through the twisted sounds of Hitchcock. It is a work of brilliance, fashioned by two men who will rapidly ascend the globe's musical hierarchy.
What The World Is Saying About Hitchcock:
“I’m really excited about the British Music Scene at the moment. Hitchcock are one of those rare bands who capture your imagination. Duran Duran along with David Bowie, were at the forefront of fusing music, fashion and art. This is a concept that Hitchcock have played with to create their own powerful and exciting identity.”
Nick Rhodes - Duran Duran
"Hitchcock are possibly, probably the most exciting new band you'll hear this year. Their lush, warm blend of electronica and indie sensibilities makes them just the refreshing blast of energy this summer needs. Think the Cocteau Twins jamming with Daft Punk in The Prodigy's studio, with Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder making the tea. Growling basslines, soaring hooks and vocals you'll find yourself singing all weekend – this is a band who will be equally at home on festival main stages or in grotty little after hours clubs."
Mickey McMonagle – Sunday Mail
"I can see this being huge on our dance floors, it's good to hear a band making something fresh and different"
DJ Dan - Promoter & DJ of Propaganda and Ramshackle
‘Brave music made by people who never gave a fuck about what a&r people wanted. Hard hitting beats and unique vocal melodies. A bit dancey with the odd tip of the hat to 80’s synth styling – like Moby meets Scarface. Tunes!’
