HIT & RUN began as an idea back in 2003. Moving forward in 2006, founding members Scott and Jeremy started looking for a bass player to complete the line up as a three piece. A good friend Matt stepped in to help things along and the first line up was complete. This line up would lay the foundation for the 4 Song'er EP, with the songs, "Mean Son of a Bitch", "Bleed", "Killin' Me", "Runnin' Hot" and a handful of other songs being rehearsed regularly in an office space at Scott's Heating and Air Conditioning company. The songs were there, but a second guitar was needed to bring the sound up to the level it needed to be. In stepped another good friend, Ben Cooksey, (formerly of the Dallas band ROLLER), on second guitar. HIT & RUN was now a four piece and was ready to take it to the stage.
After a couple of live shows, Matt had moved residence and couldn't commit to the show schedule the band had coming up, so he had to back out. HIT & RUN was a three piece again, but with Ben taking his rightful place on bass guitar. Now the band had the guts needed to really get to work. Ben went back in to rework the bass tracks on the 4 Song’er EP that Matt had laid down. The EP was complete, pressed, released on their own label and more shows followed with this line up all over Texas.
It was apparent that a second guitar was still needed to get the sound the band wanted and needed "LIVE", so Andy (formerly of Dallas bands THE HELLIONS and THE VOYEURS) stepped in to fill the spot. This line up would go into the studio to record a 7" split with good friends, HAMMERLOCK. The split would feature the songs "Lock & Load" and "On The Gas". Due to scheduling complications, Andy never got the chance to record on the split.
On the brink of going in to record the first full length album, Ben Cooksey had suddenly passed away. This was a devastating blow to his friends and family. The band took some time off to reflect about their next step.
With support and encouragement from friends, family and fans everywhere, HIT & RUN headed to the studio to start work on the album. At this time Andy had left the band, which left Scott and Jeremy to finish tracking the album. Mark (formerly of Dallas bands PUMPIN’ ETHYL, MITRA, THE FED UPS) came over to fill in on bass duties. Another second guitar player was needed, so Reece (formerly of the Dallas band Suicide Truckers) stepped into fill the slot. This line up remains today. With touring, recordings and support from fans everywhere, HIT & RUN will play on. If one thing has been proven, it's that they will never stop. With so much thrown at them, the band remains unbroken and will continue the blazing LIVE shows that their known for.
SOME REVIEWS
"LOUD, FAST AND MEAN ROCK THAT WILL MELT YOUR FACE OFF!!!"
Ben Cooksey
"These Guy’s are the kind of punk/rock/metal Texas is all about fast, loud and hard. The kind of shit you want drink, drive fast and fuck too. I don’t know about you or maybe I do, but that’s my kinda rock."---Donny Paycheck--ZEKE
"This is one of the most appropriately named bands ever. The music is straight-up, riff driven rock/punk for whiskey drinkers and hot-rod racers. Nothing fancy here. The four tracks are all under three minutes and blaze by like a pick-up truck over an armadillo. Some nifty lead guitar on "Bleed" and "Running Hot" add flavor, but H&R barely has time to bother, as they beat and blast relentlessly forward. Fans of Motorhead might wanna check these guys out." -----(MB)-Lit Monthly Review of the 4 SONG'ER EP
“If you’re looking for some good TEXAS MUSIC, There is NO need to head to Austin where all the music biz transplants , vegans, and latte’s make you feel like you’re somewhere to the left of Hollywood. Instead, head up to the Northern planes of Texas near Dallas, Where Texans still act, think and ROCK like real Texans. There you will find HIT & RUN who’s mix of Motorhead, Black Flag, Roller and Speedealer inspired music will make you feel like you just got ran over by an 18 wheeler on some 110 degree desolate Texas interstate. When you peel yourself up from that blood soaked melting asphalt you will want it to come back and hit you again.
Lyrical content ranges from violence to Rock-n-Roll… to beating your ass again just for the hell of it. Hey, if you got a good formula why fuck with it?
The 4 SONG’ER CD features the late great B.C. on Bass( of Roller and Brotherhood of the Serpent) and is by far my favorite release of 2008. It did not leave my CD player for months on end. Their live show is just as brutal and not something to be missed.”

A 4 song EP is available now. Not to many copies left though. If you want one, you can order to the left. It's chalked full of hard ass Texas Trucker Punk. A 7" split with Hammerlock is due to be released early this year, so keep an eye out for that. We're in the studio now, working on 15 tracks for the full length. If you like what you hear, check back sometime and you might hear more cool shit.
