Welcome to the home of the Twin Lakes Library System on the Web!
Mary Vinson Memorial Library's YA Department is for "young adults" aged 12-18. It was created in May of 2003. Since then, the number of books has grown immenseley, we found a terrific new home downstairs at Mary Vinson Memorial Library and we've collected a few more bean bag chairs to hang out in!
During the school year, Miss Lisa hosts "Teen Tuesdays" practically weekly, with great game nights, parties, movies, trivia contests, crafts and more. Check out the calendar to find out what's coming up!
The HiYA Teen Advisory Council meets once a month - usually on the first Tuesday - from 6-7:30. If you have an opinion - and I KNOW you do - about the library, what books and movies we need, what activities you want to have, this is the place to share that stuff. You can just come hang out too, and have some snacks and relax if that's what you want!
During the summer, join the Young Adult Vacation Reading Program where you can read books to get great prizes throughout the summer. AR books and required reading count too, so, you can even earn prizes while reading the things you have to for school - and if that's not a reason to sign up, iI don't know what is!
Our YA section has the largest Graphic Novel collection in the state, four computers with Internet and word processing just for teens, a comfy bean bag pit to relax in and read, do your homework, talk or just stare at the ceiling and ponder life.
