The following video is of Grandmaster TT Liang. He was Kiurland's second t'ai-chi ch'uan teacher and a really nice guy. Kurland studied with him in Amherst and Boston. Liang was the teaching assistant for Cheng Man-ch'ing in Taiwan and also was a friend and practice partner of Tchoung Ta-tchen and Kuo Lien Ying. He and Tchoung both studied with Hsiung Yang-hou in the T'ai-chi San Shou, a small frame form taught to Hsiung by Yang Shao-hou. See the history article in the blog section for more information. Or go to www.dotaichi.com under resources.
Wu Tu Nan was famous for having studied with the founder of Wu style and Yang Shao-hou. He is 104 at the time of video. He died at age 107. He was a friend of TT Tchoung and an influence on Tchoung Ta-tchen's method. Tchoung worked out with him and taught some of Grandmaster Wu's training methods. Wu taught his own version of t'ai-chi ch'uan.

Here are Some Photos of Applications and Pushing Hands:
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven;
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time for war, and a time for peace.

Video of Master David Harris doing some applications.
Master David Harris doing a Demo at Master Andrew Dale's school in Seattle, WA. Master Steve Smith from Wenatchee WA is his Uke. If you are taking a tai chi class, ask your teacher if they can do applications, if not, they are not a real master.
Dave was a student of Grandmasters Tchoung Ta-tchen and Fuk Yueng. He is certified to teach by Grandmaster Tchoung and by Grandmaster Yueng. See Steve Smith's site on Grandmaster Yueng.
Kurland is a tai chi chuan brother of Master Harris, and studied with Dave in his Red Boat method and found him to be an excellent teacher. David Harris is one of the most innovative and creative teachers having amazing subtle technique. Difficult to find anyone better. He is a very open teacher, willing to share his method with all his students, no secrets and doesn't hold back. Kurland has the deepest respect for him, admiring his excellent technique and subtlety. His study with Grandmasters Tchoung and Yueng raised David Harris's kung-fu to a very high level.

Heroes
Those who speak out against evil and injustice.
Those who don't buy into the popular view blindly and see through illusion.
Those who keep us honest with ourselves and help to keep us on a positive path.
Scientists who brought about positive changes for Humanity.
Peace Makers.
Healers of body and soul.
Medical & Scientific pioneers who fought stupidity of the establishment at their time,
and those who are still fighting the stupidity of our government officials who probably never passed a science class but still legislate and fund what scientists can and cannot do.
At one time the "Church" fought and persecuted scientists who did not believe the earth was the center of the universe.
They destroyed scientists who did not agree with the Church centered view.
Today we see many similarities, but the role of the church is played by the government.
I admire Sir Alexander Fleming, Dr. Howard Florey, Dr. Albert Sabin and Dr. Jonas Salk, Louis Pasteur, Anton van Leeuwenhoek, and many others.

You Are An ISFP
The Artist
You are a gifted artist or musician (though your talents may be dormant right now).
You enjoy spending your free time in nature, and you are good with animals and children.
Simply put, you enjoy bueaty in all its forms and live for the simple pleasures in life.
Gentle, sensitive, and compassionate - you are good at recognizing people's unspoken needs.
You would make a good veterinarian, pediatrician, or composer.
"Your type is best described by the single word "composer", which belongs to the larger group, experiencers. You are very in touch with the physical world, and have an eye for detail. You are likely to be very artistic in some form or another. You don't wish to lead at all. Your attitude is very much "live and let live" to the point that others may have accused you of having no opinions or ambitions. You share your personality type with 10% of the population.
As a romantic partner, you are nurturing and supportive, often putting your partner's needs before your own. You struggle when you feel anger or resentment, because the last thing you want to do is engage in confrontation. You need patience, support, and encouragement to discuss problems in constructive ways (as opposed to not at all.) You want a deep and intimate connection with your partner. You feel most appreciated when your partner is grateful for your thoughtfulness and willingness to help. You most want your partner to reciprocate with spontaneous thoughtful acts to show you how important you are to them." experiencers (SP)
"...extreme concreteness and sensuality seems to come naturally to the Composers, as if embedded "in the warp and woof" of their make."

Cheng Man-ch'ing
Cheng Man-ch'ing was a student of Yang Cheng-fu. Cheng developed his own short form, the 37 form. He was a friend of Tchoung Ta-tchen. Tchoung worked on pushing hands with him. My second teacher, Liang Tsung-tsai was Cheng's teaching assistant in Taiwan.

Especially Those who are Honest and Kind.
"Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviors.
Keep your behaviors positive because your behaviors become your habits.
Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny."

A Favorite Poem:
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I— I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
by Robert Frost (1874–1963).
