About H. Gudjonsson

After learning the Alto.Saxo when he was a kid, Hlynur started his first band at the age of 15. When they split he learned to play the guitar and formed "The Gudjonssons" together with Haruko. In June 2008 Haruko and Hlynur decided to focus on their solo projects and since then Hlynur's songwriting turned darker and more reflective then before. He used to call his sound "SadFolk" but since he developed a love for amplifiers you might need to find another label for it in a couple of while. Nevertheless his first album is set to be an acoustic one and will be released some day. "I really can't say when the record will be done. I just know that since I did the first recording sessions back in December 2008 a lot of influences came to me and forced me to change arrangements, songs and lyrics over and over again. For the forthcoming album it turned out to work best with Haruko backing me up on guitars and vocals every here and there - something that was really not planned last December."

Hlynur is also backing instrumentalist and vocalist for Haruko on some of her shows. Since July 2009 he is also part of the band Some Velvet Morning that was found by Jan Rose in 2008. "Jan's voice and songwriting are impressive.. and we both have quite the same idea of what music should be. So it was no hard decision joining SVM. It will be a great time working on the SVM songs. Sure - there is a lot to be done but I'm quite confident that things will work out just fine."
