"Writing"
often it is the only
thing
between you and
impossibility.
no drink,
no woman's love,
no wealth
can
match it.
nothing can save
you
except
writing.
it keeps the walls
from
failing.
the hordes from
closing in.
it blasts the
darkness.
writing is the
ultimate
psychiatrist,
the kindliest
god of all the
gods.
writing stalks
death.
it knows no
quit.
and writing
laughs
at itself,
at pain.
it is the last
expectation,
the last
explanation.
that's
what it
is.

"Bluebird"
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pur whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

Christopher Hitchens
These are the things that follow you around like a plague.
that this pandemic you've created is the antidote to our own sanity.
you are one of the few people ive ever met that knows how to saturate reality with enough truths and good times to keep it all bearable. touched lives and so one and so forth.
I really wish you had a phone! I'm sorry Sam I just woke up and I'm not feeling well at all, not that I'm blaming you for my current condition or anything, well maybe a little. I just wanted to let you know that I wasn't comming by today, sorry, and instead just going back to sleep. I guess it's alright you don't have a phone, it hurts to talk right now anyway =)
