PRIORY STREET BLUES is a forthcoming new downloadable Coventry music magazine. More details will emerge here as things are set up. It comes out of the work of setting up a Coventry music archive on Vox around my former Cov magazine HOBO which was operative in the 1970's. Much of that site is more or les complete now and increasingly we are engaging with some of the great new Coventry artists. The new magazine, PRIORY STREET BLUES will focus on Coventry music NOW and the HOBO archives will still be there to view and respond to with your memories and information etc. As so many new Cov artists are linked on this site - I'm slowly converting it over to serve the new magazine while maintaining links to the HOBO over on Vox (if you haven't seen it - get on over there and have a look).
PRIORY STREET BLUES (Click this link to go to the VOX site) now has a place on VOX too and the link will be in the band link on here. We are also establishing a home site for the the magazine download on a PDF file. The Vox will promote the magazine and carry additional information and videos etc. Hopefully there will be articles and features by some of the former editors of Coventry magazines as well as from some of the currently active musicans in Coventry. We hope to cover all styles of Coventry music plugged and unplugged, venues and other events and happenings. Some bands and venues etc have asked about advertising in the magazine and we are working all this out at the moment. The magazine will however be free to download so that it reaches a wider audience and helps promote all the great music that's coming out of the city these days. More later though.. Coming soon..and keep us informed.

HOBO MUSIC AND ARTS MAGAZINE was an alternative Coventry Music Magazine in the early to mid 70's run by Trev Teasdel in the period before Two Tone. It led to the creation of the Hobo Workshop - a weekly gig and workshop to encourage local bands in Coventry based at the Holyhead Youth Centre and later the Golden Cross
If you are a Coventry band or artist / venue past or present, link to us here and get on over to Hobo on Vox HERE
and join in with other Cov musicians, send us info and other material on your band, add comments and info to the blogs and find links to many other Coventry music sites. The Hobo site and others are being used by the Herbert Museum to research the creation of a Coventry Music Exhibition and museum feature.

UNWED SAILOR is helmed by Oklahoma-born songwriter Johnathon Ford. The basis for the instrumental project came into being while Ford was still writing with Seattle luminaries Roadside Monument. Pulling towards a bass guitar-oriented sound, the songs he had begun to craft did not fully feel right for Roadside Monument, thus the unbeknownst predestined forming of Unwed Sailor. Not aiming for Unwed Sailor to fall into the regular confines of a typical band, Ford's ever evolving cast and crew has been tirelessly composed over the years of good friends and company. Throughout the past decade, Unwed Sailor has shared the stage with the likes of Pedro the Lion, Mary Timony, Low, The Danielson Famile, Sufjan Stevens, Early Day Miners, Minus the Bear, The Advantage, The Starlight Mints, Battles, Mates of State, and Beach House(just to name a few…). The band has since been relocated and based out of cities across the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Jackson MS, Little Rock, AR, and most recently Lawrence, KS. With numerous tours in the U.S. and Europe, the band has traveled almost as much as it has evolved.

Ghosttown Promotions & Tin Angel Records Presents...
This Thursday 18th September BLACK CARROT: Exclusive Album Launch Support from DEAD COWBOY CULTURE @ The Tin Angel Record Shop, Spon Street CV1 3AX Doors 8pm ~ late
Black Carrot (Market Harborough) are a vibrant quintet who perform new-wave krautrock jazz madness that oozes rock with a psychotic edge. Fierce and abstract yet serving the concept of the song, their unique sound nods towards Beefheart and Pere Ubu but is shot through with flavours of New York jazz skronk, and the loosest, funkiest Krautrock.
"Black Carrot are truly inspired musicians" - Jean Hervé Peron/Faust Black Carrot release their second studio album "Drink The Black Forest" on Tin Angel Records on 3rd November 2008. To support the release initially they will be playing UK tour support for Baby Dee throughout late November early December in addition to their own headline shows in the Midlands and London.
