The Hobos have been portrayed as "Edgy folk rock", "Alternative
Americana", and "Stylish southern AAA". More appropriately and rather
humbly (for a musician) described by co-founder and songwriter Kev
Bridges as " The same old song and dance under the guise of
reinventing the freaking wheel". Bridges, bassist Art Mauney, and
guitarist Dan Parker formed the band in 2000. Rounding out the current
line-up is former Acoustic Syndicate and Tater drummer John Burn.
The North Carolina based quartet released their debut CD in 2001.
The first single "Angel of Love" went to 1 on the national MP3.com
Americana chart. The band has also held the top three spots on the
North Carolina folk-rock and Americana charts. In 2002 the Hobos
released their second CD "Sacrifice", an all-acoustic recording that
showcased more of the roots and influences of the band. A long awaited
live project was released in 2006 with four new studio recordings
including the tongue in cheek "Just Married" and their most radio
requested song to date "Eyes Wide Open".
Original music and a great collection of cover songs make the Hobos
a live act that never disappoints. Their performance is always a very
passionate and shows the diversity of the group's music. Now a
respected regional act, the Hobos have played festivals, clubs,
colleges, done live radio appearances, and original music showcases
across the southeast.
