Hogan Says! is a Detroit based band who has been playing live shows across the state for the past three years. Their self-proclaimed rock/progressive style is full of energy and innovation. The music is based around their live performances. It is very important to them to let their music grow and evolve, never forgetting their improvisational roots during their live performances. Equally important is to not let their spontaneous moments become redundant, or boring. The band is made up of four very different people, each contributing their own personalities and styles into the band. There is Maurice Hogan on guitar and vocals, who has a great ear for music and very strong song writing skills. He is an excellent guitar player that not only contributes great rhythm, but can also dish out tasty leads. Also on guitar and vocals is Chris Emmerson. He tries to come up with riff-oriented songs using unique melodies that are catchy. Chris and Maurice's singing nicely accompanies the melodic nature of their music. On bass is Dan Zylinski. He is an extremely talented musician, putting down solid, super funky bass lines. Mike Higgins contributes dynamics and texture to the band with his high energy drumming. Hogan Says! is a young band, but their hard work ethic, consistency, and resume indicate otherwise. The band has been playing live shows throughout Michigan from the Detroit scene to the college scene. The band played to a sold out crowd at the Majestic Theater in Detroit on Thanksgiving Eve 2006, sharing the stage with Bump, and Natives of the New Dawn. They have also played the Magic Stick, Magic Bag, Hard Rock Café , Fifth Avenue, Smalls as well as many other venues. In 2007 they won a charity contest at the Hard Rock Café by raising the most money for Karmanos Cancer Foundation, and have been asked back to raise money for another charity event in 2009. Hogan Says! is very open minded and diverse, sharing the bill with not only other rock bands, but also hip hop, reggae, and solo acoustic acts. This makes them appealing to many audiences. Their goal is to always make good music that their audiences can enjoy and relate to, while at the same time keeping things fresh and interesting for themselves.

You guys really rock. Too cool to having a friend from the town where I grew up. Don't remember any really rocking Grosse Pointe bands from the sixties although the Detroit area supplied plenty. Love your stuff.
