Sounds Like
A little slice of confusion with some orderly jam, or "like a cross between a
hurricane, and a ship that's run aground"
Hogback is the final product of many, many years spent in the basement of the Grand Hogshack Hotel, where 3 native Vermonters experiment with tones and grooves, quietly crafting their own unique sound. The band came together in it's current form in 2004 after guitarist Justin Meyette and drummer Andy Sutphen were left with a vacancy in the bass department. Long time friend and musical consultant John Bushey stepped up, stepped in, and unleashed some righteous bass skills and the position was solidified. The three spent the next two years practicing when schedules allowed, wrote a dozen or so original tunes, and embarked on countless jams. The guys quickly realized that it was within these jams that their true musical conversation was beginning to take shape. Hogback spent much of their time learning their language and making the conversation flow ever more naturally. When the time was right, they finally went out and got themselves a small gig at Higherground and Hogback was born. They've played a couple more gigs since and with positive feedback they're gearing up to venture out upon the Vermont music scene and make a place for themselves. So go out and grab yourself an earful of Hogback, with big chunks of solid originals and a creamy groove center!
