Sounds Like
According to Chris Barry of the Aquarian Weekly and the World Beyond Network we sound like"...The Mad Daddies meets Wolfman Jack and the Munsters on crack..."
Hola Diablo was formed sometime around November of 2002 when former members of
Casino Evil: Christopher Pingor, Christopher Christopher, Joe Ruck, amd Greg Strosser
began their search for a new bass player. Christopher Pingor asked his cousin
Joey to try out and Joey impressesd the rest of Hola Diablo. Hola Diablos lineup
was now complete. Hola Diablo welcomed Joe (Slappy) Goldstein into its ranks as
a founding member. Hola Diablo began playing high energy shows throughout New
Jersey. Their debut show was on June 14, 2003 at The Broadway Central Cafe. They
appeared with The Unidentified and Bongo Jones. Chris Barry of the Aquarian Weekly
and The World Beyond Network later said that Hola Diablo is like...Elvis meets
Wolfman Jack meets the Mad Daddys and Munsters on Crank... With such positive
reviews, Hola Diablo continued to play shows throughout New Jersey including:
The Waiting Room in Rahway, Images in Fairview , The Court Tavern in New Brunswick,
and The Brighton Bar in Long Branch. They have played with such bands as: Don
Juan Destroyer, The Unidentified, Six to Eight Mathematics, 6 Gun Republic, Billy
Joe Winghead, and The Cryptkeeper 5. Nominated for the best roots rock band of
2003 at the Asbury Park Music Awards, Hola Diablo plays a hard rocking style of
music complete with frenzied guitars, complex drum rhythms, intricate bass lines
and the haunting vocals of Christopher Christopher. Combined, you get high energy
mayhem full of fun lyrics and vicious guitar riffs held together by pounding drums
and intricate bass work. Hola Diablo began recording their as yet to be titled
7 song demo on December 29, 2003. They recorded it live in Christopher Chrisophers
basement with the help of Mitch Hiller at Inner Ear Music. It was finally completed
on June 14, 2004. Our original line-up has changed as of January 2005. Slappy
Joe Goldstein has left us to pursue a higher education. We wish him luck. We found
a replacement in our good friend Jay. We also added Melissa on backing vocals
and Danny on organ in the beginning of the year. After writing some new tunes,
we started playing clubs again in March of 2005. With our new line up and progressing
sound, the band has been steadly improving and winning over new fans with the
live show and material. Those who have recently caught the band live have gotten
a glimpse of the new sounds to come...the rest of the world with have to be satisfied
with the 03'-04' Basement Demo for now, but can look forward to big things to
come. In 2006, Melissa Balsamello left Hola Diablo for personal reasons. We wish
her good luck. She was replaced by Saphie who is still learning the songs. The
album is almost complete but Hola Diablo has decided to add several new songs
to the album so its release has been delayed. Hola Diablo is currently booking
shows for the 2007 year and currently are booked to play The Loop Lounge with
Casino Evil and the Skulls and the Clash Bar with The Serpenteens.
