Musically our influences are so diverse that it makes it difficult to pinpoint them. Definitely blues artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Tracy Chapman, but not limited to these. We are also fans of rock like U2, Led Zepplin, and others. We have influences in country, pop, and hip hop. We blend all these together to form something new.
Jam bands like Dave Matthews, Dispatch and others. Also Lenny Kravitz, Caedmon's Call, and Steven Curtis Chapman. Really though, we sound like a mad scientist took equal parts blues and rock, along with some hip hop, a smidgen of indie/pop, a dash of country, and pushed frappe on the blender of love. The result is an interesting smoothie that is not only tasty, but is so good to have inside of you. For a spicy kick, try a show where you may even hear a little Latin flavor. But beware, you might not be able to handle the heat! Hope you like it. Rock.
Holding Out is a passionate group with the drive to spend their lives doing what they love…rocking out. They are as versatile as their influences, playing both originals and covers that range in style from blues/rock to hip hop. At every gig they showcase their colorful personality and style on well-loved covers and classics, giving them a fresh twist as only Holding Out could. Holding Out is a five-piece band of electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, piano, and drums with an emphasis on superb vocals. Their two complementary lead singers will impress you on both originals and personalized covers by bringing smooth accapella, beat-boxing rap, and everything in between. The band's dedication as long time friends and musicians enable them to communicate with each other through their music and play together in perfect unity. They reinvent each song every time it's played using unique solos and harmonies, creating a fresh show that is always better than the last. They're humble enough to play small parties while confident and talented enough to play huge venues. No matter where they play, Holding Out keeps the crowds rockin' to the break of dawn! Don’t pass on any opportunity to see these guys as they establish themselves as a staple of the Portland music scene.
What People are Saying:
"Holding Out is a group of serious musicians that aren't afraid to have fun. They did a great job of catering to our diverse group of guests and had both young and old on the dance floor late into the night."
-Amy Wesselman (IPNC)

Band!"
-Cody (Thirsty Lion)
Holding Out is a "feel good band" that gets the crowd moving. They are a great band to have for any function!
-Cristel Anderson (21st Century Productions)
If you haven’t heard this CD or seen them live, you are majorly missing out. These guys rock, and their musical ability is phenomenal. Both lead singers are strong and are able to cover a wide array of musical styles. They are definitely one of my favorite bands.
