In a broad sense my work explores the proliferation of simultaneous paradigms of thought existing within the structures and meta-structures of the world community: a seemingly boundless system of cognitive and social models developing and interacting with each other, forming new models within and around previous systems. With each piece I strive to create a small universe of concurrent ideas subtly developing independently of one another, yet often held together by some unifying factor; pieces that can be experienced on a number of levels, from immediate visceral and emotional sensations, to perceptions relating to the overall form and its extension into the listening environment. My work, be it sound-based installation, composition, or improvisation, is born of contradictory impulses pulling at one another in the acoustic space, urging listeners to react, to become aware of all that is happening around them. Through this I hope to instill in the audience a sense of plurality, a willingness to become aware of multiple truths based on separate premises. I hope that they take with them after each performance an awareness of all the possibilities manifesting at any given moment.
