   The Holland Project's Blurbs
About me:
Holland is an all-ages art and music initiative made for and by the young people in Reno and beyond. Based on Seattle's successful Vera Project, Holland strives to empower young people through access to music, art, diverse workshop opportunities, and community service and activism. Geared primarily toward teens ages 13-18, Holland hopes to end the long-standing void for teens in this area by fostering creativity and encouraging young people to challenge and engage themselves and their peers. Run by young people, Holland will be a place for people of all-ages to be entertained, empowered, and involved. Holland seeks to shape Reno's future movers and shakers and creative contenders.

The Holland Project exists at 30 Cheney Street and opened it's doors in Spring of 2007. Currently, Holland friends and family are transforming the space, raising money to start and sustain the project, and securing donations in various shapes and sizes.

The name Holland is in homage to The Vera Club in the Netherlands, one of the original all-volunteer music venues in operation since the 70's. Holland's sister organization and the one from which we are modeled, the ever-estimable Vera Project, is modeled after the Dutch Vera.

Holland is sustained by it's Core Crew -- all young artists, activists, students, business owners, and musicians working to ensure Reno has a vibrant urban scene where art and music thrive, and striving to re-define Reno as a place not just for adults. Holland also has a Youth Board and a slew of dedicated volunteers that make this project possible. To become a Holland warrior, please email volunteerholland[at]gmail.com

We love you, but WE DON'T BOOK THROUGH MYSPACE!!!

For booking music:
Unfortunately, The Holland Project is in-between permanent venue locations at the moment. We do host shows at different venues around Reno, and we are always willing to work with bands to help set something up...just don't get bummed out if we can't help you.

We do also host events from time to time at our headquarters/gallery space which is at 30 Cheney Street. Keep in mind that this is a converted house, and can only accomodate about 40 people at a time (tops.) We also don't have the room/sonic capacity to host loud live music in this space. It never hurts to ask, though.

If you do write us about a show, be sure to include a link where we can hear your band as well as your expected draw and any ideas you have for promotion.

Contact Clint (Music Program Director) at
hollandbooking[at]gmail.com

For booking art shows or workshops:
The Holland Project Headquarters/Gallery Space can house small-ish (20-30+ people) workshops and has ample wall space for local young artists to display their work. If you have an idea for a workshop that requires more space or special arrangements, you should still ask. We have hosted workshops in many different spaces around Reno.

We really like it when people book events 2-3 months in advance. It makes our lives so much easier.

About Comments:

We love our community! Feel free to post flyers for up coming all-ages events. We can make exceptions for some benefit shows, but please all-ages events only! There are many wonderful sites dedicated to 21+ Reno happenings, please use them!
Thanks Friends!
