“Holler Fest is among the best of the next generation music festivals with a genuine home-grown atmosphere and free spirit about it.” - Mark Palms, Riverfolk Festival Music Organizer and member of The Raisin Pickers
Holler Fest is a new music festival in Brooklyn, Michigan (45 minutes southwest of Ann Arbor). The event takes place at Frog Holler, an organic vegetable farm owned and operated by the King family for 35 years. The first Holler Fest was held in September 2007. Performers included Joe Reilly of Ann Arbor, Glowfriends of Kalamazoo, and Frog Holler native Billy King. Visitors also enjoyed organic food grown and prepared on the farm, after-hours accoustic music in the cabin, and Sunday morning yoga.
The goal of Holler Fest is to form sustainable relationships between artists and communities. As organic farmers, we at Frog Holler work to create the best conditions for plants to reach their optimum health. Applying this philosophy to Holler Fest, we hope to create optimum conditions for arts, culture and community to thrive.
The Holler Fest main site is directly adjacent to our largest garden, a quarter mile drive off the public road. A short walk from the main stage, the cabin in the woods offers an ideal setting for accoustic music and quiet socializing. Walking trails circle the pond and allow visitors to get lost in the farm's natural beauty.
The theme of Holler Fest 2008 will be: more music, more food, more fun! The event will last for three days in late August, and feature over 20 of the finest musical acts from across Michigan and beyond.
Who I'd like to meet: Musicians, farmers, people who enjoy live music and nature, other music festivals. :)
