  • Bio

Toronto based Hollowphonic, led by Brad Ketchen, debuted in 1999 on a Sweet Tooth Records compilation following a remix of label mates 'Sticky' ep release, then listed as Hollow. The debut record 'Phonic 50mg' was then released to critical acclaim garnering plum support slots to International acts Manic Street Preachers, Low, Super Furry Animals and friends Sianspheric. The group enjoyed number 1 chart College radio success and extended play on Toronto's 'The Edge 102.1 Nu Music Hour'. Hollowphonic's lush, hypnotic, heavy, atmospheric sound compared to My Bloody Valentine, The Verve and Mogwai were embraced by the left field 'shoegaze' indie community. .... A second record 'Majestic' was then released followed by two tracks on a British label 'Errol Records' vinyl only compilation..... The group took a hiatus from 2003 until 2007 when Brad joined the band 'Summerside' with Southpacific's Joachim Tolke to play bass, then Toronto band 'Bluescreen' to play guitar as well as starting his electronic side project 'In Support of Living' which included scoring several films. The band is currently recording an upcoming full length release that will profile the band in a heavier/more moving direction. Look for shows around Southern Ontario and beyond after the new release....... The Press said:.... "Phonic 50mg is a top-notch aural opiate, sublime tune-out material. Just lay off the heavy machinery if you're indulging" Ben Rayner, The Toronto Star.... "raging reverb hurricanes that manage to melt the mind while making the heart skip a beat" Stuart Berman, Eye Magazine.... "moody melodies add to the wavering of the songs, they float and slowly creep into your psyche in a magical way. One word to describe the music...brilliant. I definitely adore this majestic band and so should you by picking up a copy of this atmospheric masterpiece!" Luca D'Addario, Tandem Magazine.... Hollowphonic reformed with Brad, Justin Grant (Fjord Rowboat) on guitar, Calvin Hager (Headphone Overtone, In Support of Living) on bass and John Henley (The Endearment) on drums and have since played live and opened for Los Campesinos.

The band is currently recording an upcoming full length release that will profile the band in a heavier/more moving direction. Look for shows around Southern Ontario and beyond after the new release.
