"Lerski's songs have a deft touch, and like her hero Jeff Buckley, an air of spiritual redemption" - Q Magazine
"Quietly brilliant folk-pop with a gorgeous voice."
- The Sunday Times
"You'll be hard pressed to find sounds more achingly lovely"
- Mojo
"There's an appealing bittersweet melancholy to her songs, especially on the outstanding 'Little Sister', a moving tribute to Jeff Buckley" - Uncut
"Outshines many of her contemporaries" - Classic Rock
"An emotive, acoustic-based collection of highly personal, folk-tinged songs" - Billboard
"One of the sweeter secrets of the late Nineties was Lerski's Angelou. Here she is again - her voice is still lovely, the lyrics observe every-day love through a poetic filter, the guitars swoop and jinglejangle. It's a proper record" - The Independent on Sunday
"Angelou come up trumps with an album of personal moments and contemplation...introspection rarely sounded stronger" - Folk Roots
"The best debut of it's kind since Eddi Reader's 'Mirmama'...indeed even The Sundays first effort 'Reading, Writing and Arithmetic'" - The Independent
"An assured album that combines The Smiths' tunefulness and Jeff Buckley's angelic voice with shimmering guitars and brilliantly understated tunes. Those who loved The Sundays will find much to adore." - Red
"A delightfully fresh sounding album, with Holly's voice sounding superb over acoustic lead backing. Firefly' sounds like she's sitting in the room with you...if only! Give this one a listen" - Guitarist
"Voice of a resurrected sylph and the kudos of touring with acclaimed storyteller John Hiatt, a combination that, by rights, should see her sitting atop the charts within a week. That she probably won’t be speaks more for the parlous state of the industry than it does for the depth of talent at work here.' - Logo Magazine
Coming to public attention in the late 1990s with Angelou, Norfolk based singer-songwriter Lerski has been compared to Jeff Buckley and Beth Orton. Her music has also featured in US CBS TV series 'Close To Home' and indie flick 'Fish Without A Bicycle'.
Born in London, Lerski moved with her family to rural Norfolk at the age of 9. It was at this time, with her toys in storage and just a guitar and 'Beatles Complete' book to keep her amused, that she first began to write songs.
Lerski played in various bands throughout her teens and in 1996, after leaving Art School, she formed Angelou with old school friend Jo Baker. They were signed by Haven Records in 1997 and released the 'Hallelujah EP' soon after, coinciding with a UK summer tour with Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine. Angelou released 2 albums with Haven, their first album produced by Calum MacColl 'Automiracles' in 1998, and their second self produced 'While You Were Sleeping' in 2000. Both albums were well received by critics, with Q Magazine dubbing Lerski the new female Jeff Buckley.
By the end of 2000 critical acclaim had still not translated into sales, and Angelou found themselves looking outside of the UK for success. In 2001 Spanish label El Diablo released an Angelou compilation called 'Midnight Witcheries'. The album did well and the band went on to tour Spain extensively promoting the record, appearing on national TV and radio.
On their return from the Benicassim Festival Tour, independent music giant Sanctuary Music Group offered Lerski a recording and publishing contract and at the end of 2001 Lerski signed a major deal.
Angelou went on to tour Scandinavia and Europe with blues legend John Hiatt & The Goners, and on their return recorded their third album 'Life Is Beautiful'. Released by Sanctuary in 2003 under Lerski's name, this was a much more commercial record. The album produced 2 singles, 'Everyone's' Lonely' and the Ben Hillier remix of 'My Love', and through the support of BBC Radio 2 producer Paul Walters, finally brought Lerski to the attention of the public through heavy BBC Radio 2 airplay.
Although the album did well, by 2004 Sanctuary's over expansion had also meant the freezing of budgets, and Lerski soon found her record ignored by the powers that be. Disillusioned with the music industry Lerski relocated to Manchester where she immersed herself in song writing again.
In 2006 Sanctuary Music Group finally collapsed. Ready for a new start Lerski returned to Norwich. Since then she has been going it alone. She played her first solo date in New York's famous 'Living Room' in 2007, the same week 'Hallelujah' was featured in the finale episode of CBS TV drama 'Close To Home', and has continued to write and record in her home studio. She has also started to draw and paint again.
Now after a long wait she is launching the 'Laundry Label', her own digital download store. She also has plans to release and perform again.

Hey, I love that song! I havent been playing as much as i would want to. Ive been doing alot of painting as im about to enter my second year of A-Levels and i only had art work i could be doing over the summer. Plus i cant find a band as everyone is consentrating too much on there A-Levels, and i cant seem to find many places that are happy for gigs with just someone and a guitar and not a full band! Do you know anywhere? and how is your music festival coming along?
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers.
