Hearing her songs, you feel that you’ve known her your whole life. Her infectious smile matches her blue eyes, tantalizing, ready to tell us thousands of secrets… and she does, with stories of her life, love and the way she sees the world. Holly Light has more lyrical depth than the Mississippi, has great rhythm just like any Creole musician, has a voice that kicks you in the pants like any Motown soul torch singer and she was born to entertain. Holly can capture a room in the palm of her hand, just with her voice and her guitar. She doesn’t need anything else, but when with band, she rocks hard too. Holly’s has been singing, playing guitar and writing songs since she was 11, inspired early on by artists like Bonnie Raitt and of course the Queen of Soul, Aretha. Most liken Holly now to Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge. It’s understandable. Holly rocks with her guitar just as fiery as those two and her songs are mainstream and in-your-face radio hits. There’s an edge and grit, though, reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin. On top of that, Holly has a passion for social action (environment and political causes) that could make her the next candidate for President. But that’s not where she wants to go. As a born entertainer, she’s creating change through her music and her performances certainly rank her as one of the best this generation has seen.
Her new album "Forgiveness Road" shows off Holly’s breadth and depth as an established artist and songwriter. “Forgiveness Road” is produced and arranged by Australian poly-media artist and producer/co-songwriter, gilli moon, and co-produced by Holly Light and Matt Thorne (also mixed and engineered The Eels, TRAPT, Plastilina Mosh).
