Native southern California girl and a Wisconsin Badger, Holly Lucas, is a star on the rise! With an undeniably unique and soulful voice that can rival today’s best, coupled with her knack for great songwriting while accompanying herself (often times) on the piano, she is well on her way to becoming one of the music industry’s finest young artists!
Born to be a musician, Holly was studying the piano by age three, and taking classical voice lessons not too long after. Holly, whose father is Gary Lucas, a former Major League Baseball pitcher and current coach in the MN Twins organization, was only six years old when she first began belting out the National Anthem for various professional sporting events, singing in church, and writing her own music. Soon after, the stage would call her name and she’d become the lead in school musicals, and perform show tunes and cover songs at local fairs, weddings, etc. By age 13 Holly had entered and won many of the state and local talent competitions, which eventually lead to her receiving a scholarship to attend a professional’s boarding high school. It was here that she would study and practice her music daily, and join the school’s elite vocal jazz/gospel group. From this opportunity, Holly was selected to perform with the Regional Grammy Choir, toured with the school’s group throughout Europe, recorded her first project, and was able to study under many famed musicians from all genres of music. It was from these eclectic experiences that Holly began cultivating her own sound and began wowing audiences with her incredible range, mature stylings, and subtle inflections that continue to add the perfect hint of soulfulness to everything acoustic/country she sings and writes. After high school it was straight to Nashville where she attended Belmont University for her freshman year as a Commercial Voice Major, and then onto the University of Wisconsin-Madison to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications…all the while still training both classically and commercially, performing when she could, and writing feverishly!
After having graduated from college, Holly headed right back down south to prove to Nashville, where she resides today, what they’ve been missing! Holly sings at many writers nights including those at the Bluebird Café, and Dan McGuiness, is a highly sought after demo singer, and continues to sing at many professional sporting events. Also, recently, Discovery TV featured Holly and her music in one of their documentaries that was aired world-wide and has subsequently helped to introduce her to the masses. Holly Lucas’s beautiful smile, and her larger-than-life pipes never cease to stun audiences no matter what the demographic; she can hang with the best of ‘em and will give you as sultry or demure, or as big or as bright a sound/performance you could ever want! Holly may be a young woman, but she has done a lot of living, a lot of performing, and has gained a maturity and knowledge that surpasses her years. So, don’t let her fool you, this kick-boxing, long-distance running, 5’9 blonde may make you feel right at ease with her sweet speaking voice, but she will knock your socks right off the second the music starts! There are great things to come this year for this fabulous emerging artist!
