Like many young classical singers, I have more influences than I can name. I tend to favor operatic singers from the 1930s and 1940s. It seems that during this era, the overall operatic style was more natural and singers were extremely well-trained....more so than they are today.
Hands down, my favorite singer is the Brazilian soprano Bidu Sayao who made her debut in 1930 at the Teatro alla Scala. She posessed an incredibly natural and delicate gift that I find difficult for anyone to match.
Other soprano voices that I have enjoyed studying include: June Anderson, Natalie Dessay, Renee Fleming, Mirella Freni, Cynthia Lawrence, Felicity Lott, Anna Moffo, Anna Netrebko, Birgit Nilsson, Jessye Norman, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Beverly Sills, Joan Sutherland, and Renata Tebaldi.
Some of my favorite operas/operettas:
Holly Therese has performed with Rochester Opera Factory (currently Mercury Opera of Rochester), Blackfriars Theatre, The Off-Monroe Players-Rochester's Gilbert and Sullivan Company, The Rochester Vocal Arts Collaborative, Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Le Session d’Opera in Quebec, Canada. Along with numerous recital programs, her stage credits include Die Fledermaus (Rosalinda), Dido and Aeneas (Didio), The Marriage of Figaro (Susanna/Countess), A Game of Chance (Latitia), Patience (Patience), HMS Pinafore (Josephine), Aspects of Love (Rose), Ruddigore (Rose Maybud), Gondoliers (Casilda) and many others. She holds a B.M. degree in voice performance from Nazareth College of Rochester and a M.M. in voice performance from the Ithaca College Conservatory of Music. Holly has taught voice/foreign language diction at the Ithaca College Conservatory of Music, private voice the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, has appeared several times as a lecturer/voice teacher with the Diocese of Rochester Adult Vocal Camp, and is an adjudicator for the Rochester Broadway Theater League's "Stars of Tomorrow" program. For the past seven years, Holly has taught Junior/Senior High music at a residential treatment facility for children who are in crisis. She also maintains a private voice studio and is an active church soloist throughout Rochester and the surrounding upstate New York area.

Listening to this music...wow...it's amazing. I really wish more people could hear this. Hmmmm....how can I get more people to hear this music? If only I had some kind of medium. A podcast or shifts at a radio station...
Doh! I have both!
You can't be shy. There's pictures of you in big purple dresses.
