“I was driving around listening to Wrecking Ball by Emmylou Harris. That was it. That was my moment of clarity... that was when I decided what I was gonna do with my life.”
Not two years from that day, Holly Nelson was named Best Female Performer at the 2003 Orange County Music Awards, where her song Masterpiece was also nominated for Best Song. That was six months before her debut record was set to be released. She would later go on to win Best Female Performer the next year as well.
Her critically-acclaimed debut, Leaving The Yard, is highlighted by Holly's beautiful voice, insightful lyrics, and the impressive musicianship of Andrew D. Prickett on guitar, Elijah Thomson on bass, Richard Swift on keys, and Frank Lenz on drums.
Holly is currently writing songs in preparation for her long-awaited second album.
hey! hope you had a great holiday... was thinkin bout you... in a good way... lmao... seriously,i was talkin to my child about childhood friends and we talked about you. good times my friend... good times.
Second album, eh? I'm secretly hoping your next recording will sound alot more like that band "Living Color" from the late 80's, or maybe the Bullet Boyz. Is there an 80's metal knob you could turn up in the studio for this one? Better yet, just compose an entire LP around a single looped tone generated from the mouth of Mr. T. Call it a "concept album." Really, though, I hope you're doing well. These new photos of you are really cool. Take care.
Hey Holly! I just thought I would stop by and say hello. I hope that everything is going well out in Cali. By the way I love your music. You have such a beautiful voice and such a great sound. I look forward to hearing some of your new songs. :)
