..Check out our ..Website..... Follow us on ..Twitter..... Like Us on.. Facebook......... ..Hollywood Gossip was a four-piece pop band in Austin, Texas. We made music from July 2007 to March 2011. ..The band's members met while working as paparazzi at the 2007 Austin Film Festival. We soon came to the conclusion that, in Austin at least, music is more profitable than scandal. Hollywood Gossip's honey dripper feeds the restless and lovelorn equally. .. ..Our debut 7-song EP, ..You're So Quiet.., was released in December 2008 at finer Austin record stores and on the web. Our full-length record, Dear as Diamonds, came out in June of 2010. Get them both on ..CD Baby.. now. .......... ........ .......... .."Hollywood Gossip … is infectious, clever, and with more than a bit of jaded cynicism, the kind of twee with a twist that you expect from Belle and Sebastian and hard pop bite of locals like Voxtrot or Oh No! Oh My! Add to that the irreverent reveling in a city of slackerdom on par with Peel, and Hollywood Gossip has a helluva debut.".. — Austin Sound.. .."If you're looking for something to get excited over with quivery knees and everything Hollywood Gossip is releasing their debut EP, You're So Quiet, Friday at DeVille. They do the indie-pop thing quite well with upbeat guitar jangles, a skipping beat, gleaming vocals and even a few horn blasts, all while staying on this side of a pop overdose. Certain songs, like 'Bicycle', even sound a little like the Smoking Popes (could be the vocals).".. — The Austinist.. .. "Think Beulah with an upbeat rock edge. Also delicious.".. — Covert Curiosity.. .."Wet-behind-the-ears twee-poppers Hollywood Gossip add the sprinkles to this sugar cookie of a show with its jangly, swingy tunes inspired by the optimism of youth (and The Lucksmiths)…" .. — The Onion: Decider Austin.. .."Catchy, up-beat pop songs with infectious melodies and impressive harmonies.".. — Austin Sound Check.. ..

Hollywood Gossip was a four-piece pop band from Austin, Texas. We made music from July 2007 to March 2011. We played with bands like Voxtrot, Ringo Deathstarr, the Broken West and the Octopus Project. We released a 7-song EP and an 11-song album, and learned all sorts of other original and cover songs and played them loudly and guilelessly. The press loved us, possibly because we claimed to be former paparazzi. We lied.

Hollywood Gossip played indie pop for nearly four years, and had a blast doing it. Thanks to everyone who came out, who gave us a listen, who danced and sang! Thanks for still listening. You can support our members' ongoing music projects by buying our records. And check back here to find out what we're working on.

DEAR AS DIAMONDS
We released our full-length record, Dear as Diamonds, on June 19th, 2010, with a high-profile show at Austin's own Ghost Room. The new album has been met with excellent press, and air play on KUT, 101X and KEXP. You can find a copy of it, and our 7-song EP, You're So Quiet at finer record stores throughout Austin, and through CD Baby. Check our calendar for upcoming dates.

You're So Quiet (EP, 2008)
HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP: You're So Quiet

“Hollywood Gossip … is infectious, clever, and with more than a bit of jaded cynicism, the kind of twee with a twist that you expect from Belle and Sebastian and hard pop bite of locals like Voxtrot or Oh No! Oh My! Add to that the irreverent reveling in a city of slackerdom on par with Peel, and Hollywood Gossip has a helluva debut.”
— Austin Sound

"Dear as Diamonds … has an undeniable cinematic quality. It’s sleek, chic, flashy and jaunty — the perfect soundtrack to a montage of scenes from a pool party on a downtown rooftop at midnight."
— Austin American Statesman

"Dear as Diamonds works as a summer album, one you can drink in and sweat out. Its tones are bright and soft on 'Turn It Up' and 'Summer Haze,' while Womack's restless lyrics never feel too poor-me; there's a unique introspection and Austin-centricity to the songs… It's a promising debut for any season, really."
— Austin Chronicle

"Hollywood Gossip really hit the high-water mark with Dear as Diamonds. In drawing from their pasts whilst pushing forward, they wrote a collection of songs so enjoyable that not a one of them should be skipped over.

"It looks like Austinites can now rejoice, as we finally have a quality band to fill the void left by the recent break-up of Voxtrot."
— Austin Town Hall

"… Maybe it’s this controlled sweetness that really gives Dear As Diamonds its charm. Yes, the vox reminds me a lil bit of Morrissey and the playful lyrics are like the Smiths, but Johnny Marr’s glam rock guitarist cousin came over and sparkled up the tracks.
“Dear As Diamonds is an indie pop gem."
— Republic of Austin

"What would happen if Morrissey woke up one day super-happy, kidnapped The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy in an energetic fit of delight, and flew the both of them down to Austin to throw a house party with Voxtrot? "… Hollywood Gossip['s] … upcoming Dear as Diamonds album (drops June 19) is all of those things."
— Launch 787

"… Their new album Dear as Diamonds is a fun pop rollick full of catchy smart tunes that are perfect to listen to with the car windows rolled down on a sunny day in Austin."
— Austin Post

“Think Beulah with an upbeat rock edge. Also delicious.”
— Covert Curiosity

“Wet-behind-the-ears twee-poppers Hollywood Gossip add the sprinkles to this sugar cookie of a show with its jangly, swingy tunes inspired by the optimism of youth (and The Lucksmiths)…”
— The Onion: Decider Austin

“Catchy, up-beat pop songs with infectious melodies and impressive harmonies.”
— Austin Sound Check
