Larry Copcar A surviving member of Sam Kinison's
Rat Pack. He has performed as both a comedian and drummer. He first
appears in 1968 on Roulette Records as the drummer of the BOUGALIEU.
A snotty Albany NY. psych/punk band. Later moving to Las Vegas, and
Spent much of the 1970s in top 40 lounge bands, and honing his
comedic skills along side many of todays famous comedians. Larry
came to Hollywood in the 1980s, worked the Comedy Store, among other
clubs, Comedy’s Dirtiest Dozen (HBO-Larry Scarano), GOOD COP - BAD COP an experimental Punk Jazz duo, and
the Free Punk Blues Band; DRUNK BY NOON before he was unwittingly
recruited as the drummer, vocalist of the HOLLYWOOD SQUARETET.
A huge fan of Free jazz in the not happening 1970s, Todd Homer
picked up a bass and began creeping around the Punk scene of his
native Hollywood in the late 1970s. Playing bass with any band that
could use him like: THE JESUS PRICK, DEAD HIPPIE or AUDIO VIDIOT. And
finding a home as an original member of THE ANGRY SAMOANS. In 1988,
he quit to focus on Free Jazz ensembles or Psychedelic Rock Bands,
the likes of Lynn Johnston Quintet, or THE MOOSEHEART FAITH. Todd
first met Copcar while playing in THE HARRY NIPPLES FREEJAZZ
ORCHESTRA in 1998.
As a part of the indie rock scene in Los Angeles during the 90's, Ken Kawamura played guitar for the punk band Beekeeper and drums in lo-fi outfit Jacknife. While experimenting on a video art project, Ken took up the saxophone which led to a solo recording project called Fellaheen and later a punk-free jazz group Chic Empowerment Center. Shortly after he joined the saxophone section of the UCI big band as a non-student member. Since then, Ken has played in various jazz/free jazz groups - Ah Um Quartet, Crepuscule featuring Bobby Bradford, and Actuel Overdrive Ensemble.
Don has played with a great many musicians, covering a wide swath of music. In the 50's he played upright Bass with Elvin Jones, piano with Herbie Mann and Nate King Cole and bass with Tommy Flanagan, Yusef Lateef and Don Ellis. He also worked with Charlie Haden, Paul Bley and Carla Bley. In the 1960's, Don started experimenting with electronic and tape music and incorporating synthesizers into my music. He met Frank Zappa in 1966 and joined the Mothers of Invention. Also at this time, Don toured and recorded with Meredith Monk. In the 70's, he performed with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, appearing on 'Sometime in New York City'. From 1975 - 1995, his recorded projects included: "Escalator Over the Hill", with Michael Mantler and Carla Bley and "Fields" with John Carter.
