The Zapatista Movement has been one of the most empowering group of people in our lifetime. They do not rely upon outside leaders full of rhetoric spoken with evil tongues and stolen languages, such as Obama, and take the action NECESSARY to the survival of their land and lives. This is their song.
Check out Howard Zinn's writings and videos on the net for free at many places. Going to his site: www.howardzinn.net is a good place to start. He is one of my (michael) personal friends and teachers. We are better humans because of him and people like him, (Noam Chomsky www.chomsky.info , Michael Albert of www.zmag.net , Arundhati Roy www.weroy.org , and Amy Goodman www.democracynow.org )
It is often said that violence is in human nature, part of our being. If that is the case, then the duality would be that resistance to violence is part of the contradiction of being a human, and simply being alive. We can choose what our path will be, and what urges are destructive or constructive. The urge to love and be loved is all powerful, and if given the chance, will control our actions, even in the face of certain suffering, we will choose love everytime. Each and every tank, gun and bomb was manufactured by us, and can and will be dismantled and rendered useless by us, if not, they will make us useless, and therefore expendable. Throw rocks at tanks!
To see this film in it's entirety, for FREE, go to http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6939956197822128063&q=the+take&ei=CIUnSMy4MJzA4ALHhuHUCQ
or simply go to google and do a search for "The Take" in the google video section. You will find it listed as Argentina - La Toma. It is an 86 minute look at the power of people and exactly why the ruling classes use media and cops to destroy the working class and keep them separated, because together we are too strong to stand for their petty claims of control. Oppression ends we stop oppressing one another.
To find one way of becoming active in your choice making, being that choices are made for you daily, you can go to www.iww.org and learn how to unionize, work together and make great gains for fellow workers, while stripping the power of control away from the boss. Become active in your own life and witness the affect we all have on each other and this world, and decide the affect you wish to create. We of course urge all to make the choice to create love and joy, everyday, in everything you do.
Check out "Anarchy NOW!", an anarchist radio show some of us produce, on www.radio4all.net (search for anarchy now), while you are there, listen to all the great programs, including our favorite: This Week In Radical History by Mike Cannon. oh yeah, fuck you Brandon Darby!

"oh my, it's all horribly destroyed and un-listenable, but otherwise i love it!" - david rovics www.davidrovics.com
we are without history if not for the history of struggle. what you have heard from us in the past was the history of the working class, the history of americana. we are now neither. while some of us work, and all of us recognize class war, that is to say the attack on the poor and the resistance to the rich, we are not a class. we are classless, nationless, even governmentless in our love. we have no representation but our ability to fight with joy and rage for our lives. the music we now play is and should be always, dangerous and violent. it is violent not in the way that the state is violent, but in the way the spring kills the winter. in the way that making love is violent. in the way that a song in a prison cell is violent. we are dangerous because we are not likened to compromise, but growth, not silence but rapture of suffering. the Rom people's have breathed into us, and we exhale to you. Let us fuck shit up together, and dance on the graves of capitalism.
holy!holy!holy! pays great respect to the past members who are no longer with us, Ian Fisher - the sexiest chipmunk in the tree is now in europe, being all euro. James - well....yeah, not so much. and Alex - well, Alex is eating a lot of weird things in weird ways and loving it all, but no longer is in the crew. We welcome in the new members, all 7 new ones. Angela on boob piano, Dominique on Viola, Amanda on Violin, Cooperstone the Mighty on Guitar, Jake the Jew on bass, Ellen on sean's tamborine and vox, Mic on Drums, and sometimes there are more. if you have a voice be heard, and again for those with no voice, louder.
..
A second round of dancing and many more! Re-rooting into the wilderness is quite the feat, even here in Portland. Hope I can see you along the way again. Truthfully this city often drains me to the point of not being able to touch all that is possible in the soil here, but I am working towards that and inspiration and friendship are much needed on that path.
Hey Michael, your name came up in a random email from someone. They said you were planning on showing CampFEMA, but you canceled so that you could go to a g-20 protests. I think right now we are both on the same page!
"it is violent not in the way that the state is violent, but in the way the spring kills the winter. in the way that making love is violent. in the way that a song in a prison cell is violent....." man, you move me and your music moves me. it was good hanging and breaking it down in the percussion section with you tonight. the sky's getting red. if you ever need me to bang on any instruments im down. cheers, AaronRoy
let's talk soon, brother. here is some footage of our team with haffez (in the blue shirt, next to me), owner of fields in at-tuwani, palestine, that we helped harvest at the edge of an encroaching settlement. much of what used to be haffez's family's land is now a settlement-owned cherry tree and rose bush orchard. haffez has been beaten by settlers. we had some down time and there was a guitar and a cheap flute... and some beautifully singing birds...
