| About Holy Name Rhythm and Blues Band |
|
The Holy Name of Jesus Rhythm and Blues Band plays every Sunday night at 7:30 pm at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on 51 Illinois St. in Worcester, MA. Guest musicians are welcomed to join the prelude praise jam beginning at 7:30 p.m. and then remain for the Catholic Mass which begins at 8:15 p.m. All music selections are faithful to the recent United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s document, “Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship” which states, “Good music makes the liturgical prayers of the Christian community more alive and fervent . . . it does what words alone cannot do. It is capable of expressing a dimension of meaning and feeling that words alone cannot convey.” As the bishops rightly add, though, “the role of music is to serve the needs of the Liturgy and not to dominate it, seek to entertain, or draw attention to itself or the musicians.” In short, it’s all about worshipping the Lord. If you are a soulful musician who believes these words, come join us. Send us a message through MySpace, and we'll be in touch. After every Mass we gather in the church hall for homemade pizza.
