Steve Straughan(vocals/guitar )and Zat Lewis (bass/vocals) started Holy Racket in 2001 .After a "1 gig tour" with Matty Forster on drums (and wall clocks),we got someone real in to help out,Theo Van Roey,from Belgium,who did a full European tour on 2 hours practice! If there ever was a star,it was him! Got back to England and recruited Kev Bambra,who turned out to be there till the end,one of the three fully paid up members of The Racket. After a few years as a three-piece,Mick O’Brien was brought in to beef up the sound,and to do all the things we’d added in studio work to keep the sound the same live as on recording. This was to become Holy Racket as it should’ve been- exciting,punchy punk rock with some great tunes weaving in and out! Went on to play with all the top Punk bands (old and new), toured Europe 14 times including Belgium,Holland,Germany,Italy,Austria,Switzerland,France,Czech,Scotland,Wales and good old England!) Signed with Dambuster Records(Austria) in 2007 .Put out "Anthems For The Doomed and Dazed",a compilation of our best tracks from previously self-released c.ds. First pressing sold out but just as we we’re about to release the second pressing in Digi-pack format and on 12" vynl,we split up. We also released the same record,but with slightly different artwork for Punk-Rebel Records (Canada). (discography to follow:) Kerrang! was rumoured(lol) to have said we’re the best thing to happen to British punk in the last 10 years. High praise indeed! Been played on Rancid Radio as one of Lars Frederiksen’s favourites! Was great while it lasted,who knows what the future may bring?! Thanks to everyone who has ever supported us-punk’s not dead!
