.......... .. .... .... THE Irish know how to enjoy themselves and when people are letting their hair down in the Emerald Isle you can be sure music will have a part to play... Be it a traditional music session, a sing-song in an Irish pub or one of those legendary Irish weddings (some of which go on for three days) where the highlight will be a performance by a live band, the Irish love their music and have a rich musical heritage... Nowhere in the world is folk music so closely entwined in the fabric of a nation... If a chorus of 'The Fields of Athenry' starts up in an Irish pub you can be certain everyone will end up singing along for all they're worth... Irish folk music has spread far and wide and was one of the main influences on the development of country music in the USA... Country music combined with the blues to produce rock 'n roll and the rest, as they say, is history... These days all varieties of Irish music can be found if far flung corners of the world - there's even an Irish pub in Beijing... Irish music covers everything from traditional to country and western and soul to rock and pop and The Holy Show Band combine a little bit of of them all... A traditional four-piece rock line-up, the Holy Show Band do not feature traditional Irish instruments, instead featuring a 'traditional' guitar/bass/drums line-up that allows them to switch between musical styles with ease... They have been described as 'the best Irish rock, pop, country, punk band - bar none' - and this description of a diverse range of styles certainly does the band justice... Their repertoire covers everything from traditional Irish ballads and foot-stomping crowd pleasers to some of the best pop and rock music spanning the last 50 years... A Holy Show Band gig usually features everything from traditional jigs and reels to music from the modern day. Familiar Irish ballads, country songs from the likes of Johnny Cash or even Elvis Costello or Squeeze feature alongsidematerial by artists like Van Morrison and the Pogues. And for something with a harder edge the band can turn their hand to more rabble-rousing numbers by the likes of Thin Lizzy or The Undertones. And it's not just Irish material either. The band will storm through a set that includes everything from Elvis Presley and the Beatles (well - Lennon and McCartney had Irish roots) to rock classics and current indie favourites... "Brilliant", "blistering" and "barn-storming" are some of the words that have been used to describe their live performances... Certainly few can boast quite such a range of diverse musical styles, with a repertoire that will appeal to young and old alike... ..Bookings.... The Holy Show Band are an experienced and highly competent musical foursome, who will not disappoint when it comes to the big occasion... They are also renowned for their easy-going friendly manner and will do their best to be as flexible as possible to help ensure any big day, whatever it may be, is both hassle-free and memorable... A performance usually consists of two 45 min/hour-long sets but the band are happy to play for longer... Wherever possible they will tailor set lists to suit individual requirements and can also endeavour to perform special requests if the event is a special occasion... The band can also perform an entirely non-Irish set if required... The Holy Show Band are available for pub and club gigs and all manner of celebrations... Performance fees may vary according to the location, the size of the venue (ie additional sound equipment and a sound engineer may be required for larger venues), the length of performance and arrangements on the day - ie access times to the venue, setting up and suchlike... Should you be interested in booking The Holy Show Band, please feel free to call or e-mail at any time to discuss your requirements... There's no obligation to book them and if need be they are happy to provide references from satisfied customers... One thing is for sure, you'll be guaranteed a good-time Irish atmosphere and a firm promise that everyone will go home with a smile on their face... To find out more...... ..Tel : 07905 815 666.... OR.. ..e-mail: HolyShowBand@gmail.com.... ..History.... The Holy Show Band are based in Birmingham (England) and generally work all over the Midlands... They were born out of the ashes of acclaimed Irish folk trio The Tree Fellers, who finally called it a day after a successful three-year innings entertaining revellers at Irish pubs and clubs around the West Midlands... Their proudest moment was travelling to Ireland to play at a music festival in the West of Ireland where they also won the Best Buskers title... After retiring from the live circuit they reformed once a year to play at the Birmingham St Patrick's Day Parade... It was out of these occasional appearances that the Holy Show Band came into being... Over a year or two this occasional band established a line-up of musicians who found they enjoyed it so much they wanted to do it all the time...
