About HOME Compilations for Children International
The HOME CDs are compilations to benefit Children International (www.children.org), a nonprofit organization to help poor and disadvantaged children in the United States and around the world. HOME was released in 2003 and the songs on this album takes one on a journey of sorts eventually ending up home, that place of warmth and security. The album features some of the top independent women singer-songwriters from around the country.
As compiler/producer Raymond Steiner listened to many of these artists' music, he noted many had songs written about "home". Instead of just burning a CD, the idea morphed into a true compilation of home songs. Wanting to make a difference in the world in another fashion, he decided to make the CD to benefit a charity. After researching multiple charities online and contacting them, he picked Children International who was willing to work with him on this endeavor. Thus HOME began to take shape. In 2006, it was named Best Compilation Album by Various Artists by the Just Plain Folks organization.
BACK HOME, released in 2005, is a follow up companion to HOME as a double CD. It features 34 different singer-songwriters from around the USA, Canada and England. These artists are recognized by their peers and fans as being some of the top artists in their genre. It also includes three previously unreleased songs by Anne Deming, Carey Colvin (who also did the CD and web site design) and H.E.L.P. which features Richard McCluskey and Jeddrah. it also has the hard to find song by the talented Kay Story.
The third CD is the truly unique compilation called THE HOLIDAYS AT HOME. It features ALL ORIGINAL Christmas and Holiday songs again by independent women artists. As a fan of Christmas songs, Steiner feels this is a refreshing change from the same holiday tunes heard over and over during the Christmas season. It also has a never before released song by the gifted Mare Wakefield.
The fourth CD, released in 2008, is called TAKE ME HOME. It features artists new to the compilation series such as the wonderful Lucy Kaplansky, multi-talented actress Martha Byrne, bluegrass/Americana artist Jan Smith, the dreamy Julia Macklin, gifted Kate Klim, and artistic Kathy Phillips. Karen Jacobsen, Brooke Ramel and Kellee Bradley each return for a third time!
Since Steiner has worked with Children International and is a sponsor of a child in Zambia named Victoria, he has noted the growth of the organization. In 2003, over 250,000 children were being sponsored. By 2005, the number rose to 300,000. Now in 2008, there are over 322,000 children sponsored. Among the many services they provide include building houses and making home improvements, providing medical and dental care, providing educational supplies and support, and furnished nutritional food. They can be contacted at 1-800-888-3089.

Hi Raymond! Thanks for adding me back. Your new page is lovely. Please let me know if you ever want to use one of my songs for your compilation CD. What a great thing you're doing! xoxxo Shannon
There is within each of us a spirit that reaches out to all others. That part of us is not controlled by our egos, it knows no time, it knows no boundaries, it has no concept of death...it is undefeatable. It is the friend that we wish, we seek, we know and yet cannot fathom. Welcome to my circle of friends.
"...It is hard to sometimes walk away from a problem in order to solve it. Sometimes our burdens seem so great that they are irresolvable. I have learned this from the study of Logic: To actually know that a problem exists there needs to be some form of a solution to base it on that it exists. As in Physics we cannot measure darkness, so we used Mythos to describe the darkness, even the darkness of our minds. Mythos predates and is the ancestor of our modern Psychologies. The problems we find hardest to walk away from are those that cause us to feel dread. What is easiest to change is the feeling of dread..." From the book: The Lyth of Lemmings by Frank Mueller
