Autopsy reveals Homegrown is indeed dead but will live on forever through posthumous compilation release!
The weekly local music radio program known as Homegrown first aired on October 29th, 1996 as one song by a local artist at 2 AM on KQRS. By July 27th of the following year, host Mei Young had pushed KQ to give her an hour and Homegrown, as most knew it, was born. After surviving two different stations, three timeslots, more co-hosts than Spinal Tap had drummers, and delivering the local rock n’ roll gospel for over 10 years via more than 500 episodes, Homegrown went live on Drive 105 for the last time on May 6th, 2007. New parent company Citadel Broadcasting had decided it was time for a format change and Homegrown did not fit the new format, nor was it welcome back at KQRS. It was the end of an era.
After a few months of much needed vacation for the current staff, they reassembled to decide what the future might hold for a radio show that now had no home. After considering all the available options for continuing terrestrial and online broadcast, the staff came to the sad conclusion that Homegrown’s time had passed. However, to properly commemorate the show’s legacy, they’d release a second volume of some of the best live performances on the show over the ten years of its existence. The compilation would be entitled Silage: Foreclosure & Eviction (the first was simply called Silage and was released in Jan. of 2003). 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this volume of Silage will benefit D.E.M.O. – the diverse emerging music organization http://www.demomn.org/.
In addition to releasing the CD, the Homegrown Staff determined it was a moral imperative that they throw a kick ass CD release show, complete with a rock n’ roll funeral and a drunken cremation ceremony the following day to properly mourn the loss of Homegrown

Homegrown ... Yo what up?!? Tired of 90% of the junk on the radio? You can now hear our killer mix of Funk-Rock Hip-Hop online. It's funky fun like Outkast Chili Peppers on serious energy like Rage and 30 Seconds to Mars ... but clearly NOT rehashed disco funk or anger rap metal. The answer to “Who’s your Daddy?” combined with the love of Yo Mama, critics say Ballistic Groove is the highly acclaimed New Sound you’ve been waiting for! Join the Groove Ballers and check it at MySpace.com/BallisticGroove ... Peace & respect -BG
