The Homeland Cultural Center was established in 1989 with a mission to provide a safe place to cultivate, present, and preserve the cultures of residents through the performing and visual arts, and to celebrate the Anaheim (Street) Corridor’s dramatic ethnic diversity by encouraging artistic expression in various cultural traditions. With the help of Ice Man, Steam, Waveomatic and Dixie, Homeland has become a place to share the Hip Hop culture to its fullest.
Homeland has been known for its Tuesday night bboy/bgirl practice sessions and also for its Monday night popping/locking practice sessions. Durring these weekly sessions, many dancers of all ages and locations come together to share their knowledge and skills on the dance floor.
You have always showed the people at homeland and any fellow dancers love...you were one of the most kind hearted dancer that came to homeland, you spread joy, laughter, and great vibes when you were around. We are all blessed to have you in our lives and you have brought positivity to the community... we love you gary... RIP...

This past Sunday, May 24th 2009, our friend and mentor, Jose "Steam" Martinez, who is the Director of Arts Programs at Homeland Cultural Center, lost his father due to medical complications. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steam and his family as we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences. Steam has been a vital part of Homeland serving the community of Long Beach through art classes and mentoring programs, and has supported the dance community that has made Homeland a safe haven for artists to express themselves creativley over the past decade.
On Monday and Tuesday, June 1st and 2nd, 2009, Homeland, under the direction of Mike 'Iceman' Rivera, will be holding a moment of paying respects to Steam's father, and hosting a fundraiser to support Steam and his family during this difficult time. Please support our brother and friend, just as he has supported the community and given of himself in countless ways.
Please say a prayer and word of encouragement for Steam and his family, and stop by Homeland on Monday or Tuesday to show your support.
