   Homemade's Blurbs
About me:

Homemade is night of folky frolics and acoustic merriment. It takes place at the Treehouse (near the university on Great Horton Road) on the second Thursday of each month and involves music from eclectic acts from all over, vegan and vegetarian food, a lot of tea and cake and a couple of hours of mix CD fun. If you want to get involved, suggest acts/music, or want to know more send us a message.

Who I'd like to meet:

We aim to provide acts that fit somewhere in the mighty spectrum that is folk but, as lovers and not fighters, we are always open new bands and new sounds. If this sounds up your street then we would like to meet you.

Thursday February 26th @ The Packhorse, Leeds

GREAT ESKIMO HOAX
Somewhere between the spasmodic mathpop of Youthmovies & the synth-drenched quirkiness of Cats in Paris lie West Midlands trio Great Eskimo Hoax, with vocals at once melodic & shouty cutting through carefully textured guitars, keys and insistent drum pulses.

http://www. myspace. com/greateskimohoax

MINNAARS
Intense, danceable, epic: that Forward Russia's Tom Woodhead has been working as their producer gives an idea as to where they're coming from, but Minnaars add to that sound an incredible variety through the use of loops, unpredictable structures & duelling synth & guitar.

http://www. myspace. com/minnaars

THE BLACKBIRD APPEAL
Whispered vocals & thick, fuzzy guitars at the front; along with drums cranking the tempo up at the back, eking slices of pop out of a shoegazey-haze.

http://www. myspace. com/theblackbirdappeal

£4 adv/£5 on the door. Tickets available here: http://www. wegottickets. com/event/44288

Members of The Maccabees, I Was A Cub Scout, That Fucking Tank and Monty Casino will be playing with their new bands / side projects at the 1 in 12 club, Bradford, this Friday!:

..

Playing live:

**BRONTIDE**
Probably one of the best mathy instrumental rock bands we've heard in ages, a perfect blend of Russian Circles, Battles and Don Caballero. They feature members of I Was A Cub Scout, The Petty Thief and Pictures and are releasing a record on the ever so hip Holy Roar label!
http://myspace. com/brontidetheband

**PHANTOM**
2 piece dark party machine featuring Sam from The Maccabees. With triggers, pedals, synth pads, drums, guitars and vocals this is soul music for the electric age. Debut single on Young & Lost out soon!
http://myspace. com/phantomldn

**WONDERSWAN**
Slack and scuzzy as hell Wonderswan are one of the best bands in Leeds right now. They sound like Yo La Tengo, Sebadoh and My Bloody Valentine and have played with the likes of No Age and Mae Shi!
http://myspace. com/wonderswanband

**NOPE**
Krautrock style, repetitive grooves brought to you by members of That Fucking Tank and Mucky Sailor. Think a hybrid between Stereolab, Paradise Lost and Neu!...

**GARFUNKEL & SIMON**
Anti folk musings in the vein of Jeff Lewis performed by Paddy From Monty Casino.

PLUS:
- DJ sets from No Hands, Good Form Club, Claptrap and Beep!
- Cheaper beer than Wetherspoons!
- Goodies of some sort!

Friday 13th February,
1 in 12 Club Bradford,
7.30pm - 1.30am
£3/2 (nus)

* PLEASE NOTE THAT BANDS ARE ON STAGE FROM 8PM SHARP AND WILL FINISH NO LATER THAN 11PM. FOLLOWED BY DJS TILL APPROX. 1.30AM. GET DOWN EARLY FOLKS!
