Home Movies used to be called Park Road – a semi-existant group dreamed up by head hauncho Michael Milosh in Oshawa, Ontario. It’s been kicking around for a few years. He changed the name cause Park Road doesn’t mean jack to anybody but himself and Home Movies is what he says he meant to call it in the first place – “it’s something we can all relate to whether we want to or not.” I know, I know I keep tellin’ him there is nothing really wrong with having a regular sort y’know job job.
When Home Movies decides to play live it usually consists of a few friends and family members who end up playing what ever it is they can manage – mainly because paying people to play yer music these days is a bit of a dead concept – well in Oshawa anyways. So helping out we got Chris Delong from the Gas Powered Witch project – check it out on myspace he makes great music for film. I’ve met Chris and he’s a real stone groove – remember the time he helped the sound guy at the Horseshoe brush up his amplifier micing skills, or better yet his X-mas Violin lesson video for Jesus – check it out on his facebook if you think of it sometime.
Anyways Michael recorded most of this album on his own (sometimes with Chris) at his childhood home (located somewhere off of Park Road in Oshawa) early last year. Made on a shoestring, its his first Digital recording which is why it sounds so goofy sometimes – like you got some kind of bug crawling around the inside of yer head – hence the title Digital Bux Earwig which is as close a meaning as I think you’ll get unless yer on some kind of stupid drugs.
After a few years as a “serious songwriter” Michael wanted to just make a big mess and have some fun sounding music for a change. I think he thinks of his current work as Terry Fox meets Pee Wee’s Playhouse with Taco Bell doing all the catering, but let’s keep that kinda quiet OK? So if you gotta classify this disc as anything you can relate to file it under Knob-Jive.
Michael used to be very professional in his mind – played live a lot in not just on his own but in a bunch of groups and occasionally produced his own albums. But after a few miserable failure groups it’s been more recording less daydreaming, at least until he “gets over himself” as an old flame says or to quote another bozo - “sucks it up and develops a spine”. They’re probably both right unless yer on some kind of stupid anti-depressants. Anyways all accomplishments aside Mr. Milosh feels pretty good about his music these days and hopes you will too.
Hey A & C, don’t forget to drink yer oval tine!
