Interests

  • General

Bein' awesome, crochetin', bloggin', outdoorin', doin' stuff with people
  • Music

Keeps me going. I've seen all kinds of people live - everyone from Sir Mix-A-Lot to Van Morrison, Fugazi, Johnny Rivers, BB King, Willie Nelson, Wilco, The Breeders, Stars, Etta James, Bob Dylan, Parliament Funkadelic. I have a major list of artists I'd love to see - Radiohead, R.E.M., U2, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Elvis Costello. My music collection is eclectic; every genre has something that appeals to me. You'll find me listening to Top 40 almost as much as you'll find me listening to indie rock.
  • Movies

Anything that makes me think. Like with music, every genre appeals to me (although I'm not much of a fan of war flicks; the closest favorite would be Pan's Labyrinth). Harold and Maude, 28 Days Later, Enemy of the State, most documentaries, Requiem for a Dream, The Bubble, oh - and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. :)
  • Television

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Six Feet Under, The Bob Newhart Show, Buffy, Angel, Nip/Tuck, Damages (have you SEEN Damages? Holy snot it's amazing.) But really I haven't turned on my TV in months so I don't really watch so much of the new stuff.
  • Books

I wish I had more time to read, but my crocheting is taking up that time. Right now I'm (slowly) reading The Year of Living Biblically and I Am America And So Can You. The Handmaid's Tale and To Kill A Mockingbird are my two favorite novels. I also like to collect cheap, kitschy coffee table books that serve as conversational pieces for visitors. Lately I've been getting into audiobooks so I can "read" while in the car. I finished Barack Obama's The Audacity of Hope and am now listening to Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris.
  • Heroes

I encounter new ones almost daily.

About me:

Bellesouth - the blog! Or the RSS feed: Bellesouth's latest blog entries

Loud. Curly-headed. Curvy. Funny. Wearer of red glasses. Dreamer of dreams. Crocheter of afghans. Writer of writings. Smarter than the average bear, and not afraid to show it.

I vote. Because voting is fucking awesome.

I keep up with the news and frequently talk about it with my friends.

I believe in dinosaurs.

I'm a lover, not a fighter. I love hugs. I am girly, but I hate pantyhose and I carry a wallet in my back pocket.

I can be that drunk girl you saw at the bar who actually has a heart of gold, and a compassion for others and a multitude of friends to show it.

You will never forget me.

I love Bacon and all its bacony awesomeness.

I'm the King of Rock, there ain't nuttin' higher. Sucka MCs should call me "sire."

I am extremely outgoing and a social butterfly, although I will occasionally tuck myself away from the world for a little while to re-energize. I am a self-starter and a go-getter, but also a rare-finisher and a leave-behinder.

I have what others have told me is a "very interesting" job in which I deal with public figures on a regular basis. I have made a personal commitment to myself to use my job to work toward making this world a better place.

I have a lot of friends from various walks of life, and some of them are great for going to the movies with, goin' dancing with or just hangin' with the family and the kids. I love kids and they love me, but in dating I can respect parent-child relationships and any dating boundaries set as a result of them.

Right now I'm also trying to live healthier and be more active, and am looking to spend more time with those who want the same. I enjoy hiking and walking mostly, and love kayaking (but sadly can't afford to buy one). I hate riding bicycles. (Ow, my ass!)

I'm also tryin' to keep the bills paid, the lights on and the car running.

And I'm crocheting a lot because I'm making lots of holiday gifts.

.. ..

Who I'd like to meet:

People who love to laugh.

People who like music. People who like to think, and people who want to change the world.

People who enjoy old films, potlucks, hikes, spontaneity, drinking good beers out of pint glasses, listening to and sharing good music, and laughter.

Oh, and people who enjoy none of those things, too.

Here's a Martha Stewart idea for your Thanksgiving centerpiece...

A tampon turkey! A used one makes a great wattle.

What to do with the leftovers.

Mind you, I'm just guessing here, but I think the real inconvenience is cramming a whole roll up there. Maybe for you it's not.

Not sure I want to view those scenes of them staring at it. Now, if it were in 3D...

I don't have a caption for this. I just found it hilarious. But then again, I laugh at my own farts.

It's that walnut grain finish that guarantees you waking up to wood every morning.

What did you do this weekend? I had me a nice rousing game of strip beanbag toss...
